Hey gang.
Here is an opportunity to let folks know what is going on in the live music scene. Please leave a link or brief explaination of an upcoming show that may be of interest to your fellow Fretters.

I found the Grand Daddy of all shows for 2006 and we can all stay at Robert's
place in Sweden. Yes , Sweden.
It is scheduled for June 8-10 in Solvesborg Sweden.
Many of the Fretters will recognize the Rock n Roll alumnists on the list.

THIS IS THE ONE NOT TO MISS!

Spudster,

Well I just found out yesterday that Mr. BB King will be playing at the Sandia Resort and Casino outdoor amphitheater May 29th and I am SO there. First time for me to hear and experience one of the greatest gifts ever bestowed to this planet. *thumbs up*

Tone

What city and do you have a link or contact information? Others may want to attend.
BB might not be doing this much longer and it would be great to see the Grand Pappy moan and wail and make your feet move!

Thanks for the info Tone.

Sweden Rock Festival!

Two years ago Lynyrd played, but it seems like there are a lot of great bands playing this year as well!

Alice Cooper is playing at the Fargo Civic Auditorium on May 15th. I also see from looking at his website that the majority of his May dates are in Canada, so you Fretters north of the border beware! For those of you who have not epxerienced Alice Cooper live, all I have to say is that you gotta' see (and hear) it to believe it! It's been one of the best live shows on the road for over (30) years, and I virtually guarantee that before the night is over, you'll be screaming at the top of your lungs for one reason or another. A showman extraordinaire with a solid catalog of great hard rock music, Alice delivers the goods! Here's a link to his website:

I'm taking my son to see BB at the House of Blues in Orlando on 4/28. Here is a link to his complete schedule.

BTW this is a great resource to see where any of your favorites are playing. Just do a new search from this link (top left).

Tone, you definitely don't want to miss this one. Mr. King is not getting any younger, so there is no telling how many more years we'll have this treasure with us. He is truly one of the greats.

Rob - I know. As soon as I got the email alert I called my wife and told her WE ARE GOING. She just laughed. She loves him too...she likes when he sings "Rock me Baby" and does the back ain't got no bone shuffle. heh

Here's the Ticketmaster link to the gig here in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA!

ps - Hey Nelskie...click on the link that takes you to the casino's website at the bottom of that Ticketmaster page and run the flash version. Then navigate to the entertainment link...you'll see some of your buddys on stage here in town. ;)

Since upcoming events are being announced, I might as well chime in here and mention this one. The 23rd Chicago Blues Festival will run from June 8th - 11th.

This is a not-to-be-missed event!

I have not seen details yet of who will be playing, but this year's theme will be a commemoration of the centennials of Roosevelt Sykes and Eurreal "Little Brother" Montgomery. I will post any updates as I see them.

Chicago Blues Festival website (http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/webportal/portalEntityHomeAction.do?entityName=Blues+Festiva l&entityNameEnumValue=159)

This is a world class event that sees people coming from across the globe to attend.

BTW, speaking of the blues, and of blues legends, I got to speak with the legendary David "Honeyboy" Edwards at the Guitar Works in Evanston. He was looking for a hard shell case for a vintage Silvertone guitar that he was playing. He couldn't find a case long enough for this non-standard length guitar, so I recommended that he try to find a G&L case, as they are longer. I was checking out an acoustic bass guitar and actually got to play a few bars with Honeyboy as he went to town on a new Martin D28. What an experience that was! Honeyboy, born in 1915, is one of the last of the original Delta Blues style players, and a contemporary of fellow legends Son House and Robert Johnson. He got his start playing jukes and picnics with Big Joe Williams, and actually played gigs with Robert Johnson, Big Walter Horton, and Yank Rachel. Honeyboy was one of the headliners of the 2004 Chicago Blues Festival.

You never know who you are going to meet in a guitar store!

Tone - Well a-how, how, how! Looks like the Rev is grinding out a few pounds on very tasty Les Paul in those shots. Just brings a smile to my face . . . ;)
