At one time, I was very much into the Yellowjackets and was ecstatic they were doing a couple of shows one night at a local club. But by this time, Robben Ford was a contributor, but was no longer with the band full time.
I called the club’s box office to get more info, after I’d heard that Bob Mintzer couldn’t make the gig. I was told by the office, “Yeah, I heard that too. I guess they’re having a guitar player sit in instead …or something”.
We’ll guess who shows up. The guitar player was ROBBEN! Man, what a treat. He is one of my favorites. He was a tad rusty, as he had not jammed with the Jackets for awhile, but it didn’t take him long.
He was playing through a Twin that night. Man, he gets phenomenal tone.:Dude:
