mine was in november seeing my friend's band final fall, and the local bands solidarity, and one man's opinon. It was during the afternoon at school and we were all (the rockers at least) really pissed that we had to sit down, so me and a couple guys decided to defy it, we almost got suspended for it, but it was worth it!
there's a video with me in it right here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXL5SBDay5A

when the guy on the left does the solo behind his head, I'm the first guy to run up:dude:

just getting a case of cabin fever! When was the last show you've been to (which can include shows you've played at) and who was playing?

Believe you me, I get the same thing all the time since I'm a pastor. When they see me at the grocery store it's as if they're saying, "You mean to say that Pastor Arnold needs to eat too?!?" Maybe they assume I wake up and there's manna all over my carpeting or something. One of the kids in our pre-school called me Jesus the other day. I thanked him for the compliment, but said I'm just me.

Back on topic (cue Porkins voice, "Stay on topic!") my last concert was the first in many moons. In November I saw Joe Bonamassa and Crosby Loggins at the Oneida Casino in Green Bay. Loggins was surprisingly good and his dear old dad came out for a couple of tunes. Joe blew my socks into the stratosphere. I like his albums, but none of the recordings I've heard so far have captured his live energy. I'll be paying attention for the next time he comes around here.

I remember as a kid seeing teachers and other adult authority figures in public places and being surprised to find out they had lives outside of the context of my own. It's like Ralph Wiggum's homage to Principal Skinner, "Prinicipal Skinner is an old man who lives at the school." I have a friend who is a teacher who often wonders whether or not he is running into the parents of his middle-school students when we go to shows, and another who is a college professor who often runs into his own students at shows ["oh my god, you're like a real person" is how I often describe the looks he gets].

The smart ones will either run or know ahead of time that they will have to feed, clothe and house you. Hopefully there are still some "babes" that will come around if you wear that shirt.

Otherwise, the one that usually works best just says "Rich."

he at some point had a fiddle player from seguin, tx playing with him, and my brother knew him [the fiddle player... Duckworth?], said he was Good Peeps, as well.

We got a real treat this past Tuesday night [Jan 22]. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings played a show in Tampa the other night. Having listened to them for some years now, it was a real treat to finally get to seem them live. This is the closest thing to seeing James Brown at the height of his powers as I am likely to get.

For starters, the band are funk/soul heavyweights. They can lock into a groove at the drop of a hat and they bring it strong all night. Even without their singer on stage, this is a band that commands your attention.

And then, well then there is the almost indescribable Miss Sharon Jones. She is a ball of energy with a voice beyond words. She's as soulful as it gets, and the voice is powerful. I got the feeling that had her mic gone out I still could have heard her just fine. She has tremendous charisma, and can play a crowd like no other. Descriptions of her as the "Lady James Brown" are right on target, evidenced in large part of her masterful performances during several JB's covers throughout the set.

If they come anywhere near you, see them. They are a live show not to be missed.

http://www.gainesvillebands.com/forum/uploads/images/bugsville/2007-12-28_123717_12_28_07_1982_fromthem.jpg

Probably most recent show I didn't play at was the first night of this 2-night outdoor fest (I played the second night though):

As you might guess, both shows were all-locals.

I haven't been to a "big" concert in years, which is fine by me. I much prefer club shows.

We saw Mr. BB King after Christmas holiday. Best concert I've ever been to. He is just an amazing man. Always heard he tossed out gold trinkets out to the front rows after the set at his shows but thought it was an urban legend....I was wrong, he did do that. Pretty cool.

Wow...last concert? Ever since getting back into school a year and a half ago, I haven't been to anything. Doesn't help that I live in Oregon. NO ONE comes 'round here. I'm not kidding. Most bands hit Seattle and somewhere in North Cali, but that's it. What a contrast from Chicago, where there was always a good show to go to...and go to them I did *ears ringing*.

I do believe the last show I saw was Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde's band) a few years back. He came around again in late '06, but I was in the middle of finals and chose the responsible route. :(
