Ok, now that I have my BEAUTIFUL Twin reverb, I need to find a good distortion pedal. I was thinking maybe just get a ds-1, but I dont know if that is versitile enough. any thoughts? Ohh the budget here is about 150 dollars.

Actually, I'd recommend two--a Digitech Bad Monkey for light to moderate overdrive (blues, less heavy classic rock) and something like a Marshall Guv'nor Plus for more outright distortion. You could get both of these pedals, including shipping, and still have a few bucks left over from your $150 budget. I've been very pleased with the wide range of distortion and tonal control that my Guv'nor gives me--a very flexible distro box. If you want serious metal-style distortion, then look at something like the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone or Digitech Metal Master. These will give you that crushing, heavily mid-scooped death metal distortion.

Two excellent suggestions from Voodoo. The Marshall Guv'nor Plus will basically turn your Twin into a Marshall. So for the price of a pedal you get one more amph.

There's a million choices out there. Go to several music stores and ask to try them all!

I'll say this again - the best ban for the buck is the Danelectro FAB Distortion. It's around 14 bucks, but sounds like a million bucks. It's very dinky and cheaply made, but sounds good.

The Jackhammer is Marshall's most extreme disrtortion pedal. Listen for yourself:

And here's the page with the Guv'nor clips:

If I were looking for a distortion pedal today, I'd seriously look at a SansAmp GT2 (http://www.tech21nyc.com/gt2.html). The clips I've heard sound awesome. It also has cab modeling so you can use it for recording direct too.

Well, DUH, but that's lower on the list of priorities right now. Mine are:
1) Electronic lobotomy for my Floyd
2) Celestion for my AD30VT
3) I start thinking about other things
