Who belongs on a top list of the best slide players? (got this idea from oldguy).

Let's include any amazing slide player, whether it's lapsteel or guitar or any other funky string instrument.

Wow! I didn't know Rod was gone. An accidental fall resulting in head trauma (damn skateboards). :confused: :) :messedup:

I did know Dave P was gone though. Such a cool band in their day. :beer:


I forgot to add Jorma Kaukonen to my slide player list. I sat in front of him one night as he did a duo gig. He was playing through a Mesa 1x12 combo and was sounding sweeeet. That was the first time I was mesmerized by the slide guitar. He rocked like a rocket taking off. Too much for my starchy brain to handle. woa dude:messedup:

1 Bob Brozman (acoustic wiz, Spanish and lap style)
2 Dave Hole (the guy from Down Under who plays over the top and slides off his first finger. NOBODY does dive bombing strafes like Dave.)
3 Luther Allison (didn't play tons of slide, but when he did, he was awesome and so soulful)
4 Rory Block (the first lady of acoustic slide and a hell of a singer too)
5 George Thorogood (you ought to see him LIVE)
6 Lowell George of Little Feat, RIP
7 Hound Dog Taylor
8 Joanna Connor (cover your damn head; she plays a WICKED slide)
