That has bawlz, dude :AOK:. I love the intensity of the heavy duty bridge and massive p'ups. Looks pretty sweet. Haven't played G&L basses before, but if they are anything like "Leo Rev. 2.0" Strats and Teles it'd be a beaut!

What do all the toggle switches do?

First the knobs. The top one is volume, the middle one is a treble cut, and the bottom is a bass cut knob. The separate bass and treble controls are a Leo Fender innovation that he brought to G&L, and it is used on the L-2000.

The top toggle is a 3-way pickup selector. The middle toggle is a 2-way series or parallel select, I think it puts the coils in the humbucker in series versus parallel wiring. This bass has an active preamp that runs off of a 9-volt battery. The bottom toggle is a 3-way: up is preamp with treble boost, middle is preamp on, down is preamp off.

With all these control options this bass can create a lot of different tones, I'm still learning about them.

I'm not new to G&L guitars, I have one which is a telecaster shaped body but with 3 pickups. It also has a mini toggle that turns on a bridge and neck pickup combination, or even a bridge, mid, and neck pickup combination. These combinations are not possible on a Strat with regular wiring.

Hi Steve, I don't have a picture of the whole headstock. There is a chip in the headstock so I took a closeup picture of it.

Brian, I don't claim to be a bass player. I bought a cheap bass 4 years ago because in order for my recordings to sound complete I needed bass. I barely learned how to play since; I essentially just play to make up a bassline and record it for whatever song I happen to be recording.

I did decide that I may want to find a better bass, since I don't really even know what a good bass should sound like. And this deal just fell into my lap this week.

Since I'm not in a band situation I don't know whether the toggles will interfere with playing live or not. When I record obviously I can fiddle with it all I want before I record my 3 minutes of bass. I did consult with a number of knowledgeable bass players who plays this instrument and I have not heard anyone saying that the toggle placements are a problem. May be some of the bass players on this site will chime in on the topic.
