So I'd sold my Tacoma DR55 because I'd found a Takamine I could have instead and end up with a fair amount of pocket change to cover some bills.

Satan is a mysterious dude who feasts on the GAS-prone. He got to me this week, and I made a deal with him.

The 2 guitars here are: on the left, an '02 G&L Comanche that cost me :thwap: a 2 for 1 trade yesterday- the '07 Fender American Vintage Series '62 ReIssue Strat and an '04Epi LP Standard (Chinese) I'd acquired in September; on the right, plugged into the white Roland MicroCube, an '05 Epi Casino, Korean, Aria-built, that cost me the pocket change from the DR55 sale :whatever: just the day before.

Both are near-mint condition. I'll put posts up later with a few more pics and details on each of them in the appropiate forums in the "Instrument Room", but right now, I've got some bonding to do with the Comanche :D and a little setup on the Casino.

And honey-do tuff to do to keep my :reallymad: wife from shooting me. :crazyguy:

Oooooh, I like the looks of that Comanche! The split pickups are interesting. What tonal impact does that have? Never played a guitar with that arrangement....

Nice acquisitions, even if the devil made you do it! :AOK: :dude:

Well that does some explaining why I haven't heard from you lately. Those are some nice guitars, really like the G&L.

You noted the American Vintage Series '62 ReIssue Strat, is that the blue one?

wingsdad, did you catch the posts I made in the bass column concerning the G&L L-2000 bass that I just picked up last week?

G&L calls them 'Z-Coils', and they're a Leo Fender design from the 80's, or actually, from his pre-BS Fender days. I think he split the coils on the Bass VI and a 12-string. Pure Leo genius: the low 3 strings' coils are closer to the neck, the treble 3 closer to the bridge, so they produce a more-defined range of lows & highs. The split coils are also wound in opposite directions, so they act like humbuckers... There's a whole lot more to what this dog can hunt, so like I said, I'll try to get that thread on this thing up soon.

Yep :( I was lucky to find that one in September, but luckier still to stumble on this yesterday (and the Casino the day before), and there's no question this is by far a superior 'Strat'. There's only one that comes close to it, IMO, and I have one, my '81 STRAT. Oh...and a G&L S-500, the same wiring & switching scheme as the Comanche, but not with the Z-coils.

Oh, yeah :AOK: Congrats on that score.

Mick,

I have to hand it to you. You have managed to keep the gas burning, without having to liquidate anything. A well conceived plan.
