Finally! I've been waiting for this. They finally updated this line of Macbooks/Macbook Pros.

I think I will go with 2GB RAM for now, but get Apple Care and the 7200 RPM harddrive ($50 extra). Extra 2GB of RAM is $400, so I think I'll wait and see how well it runs on 2GB. I can always go to the Apple store and buy more RAM later.
What you think?

Do not buy RAM at the apple store.. too expensive if you ask me. You can get the same RAM at your low price PC store...

You should get the 7200 rpm drive though.. mucho better for audio apps..

I am sure you'll love it I work for a Authorized Apple Reseller and these two models are creating a bit of a buzz unlike the Air.

Very nice Robert. I will have to stick with the old Dell route and free computer from work - that is far too rich for my pockets.

Hope you enjoy it and I look forward to you adding to the Mac pokes :poke:

So true, once you get comfortable with them you are hard pressed to return to the PC world. I actually enjoy using my Macs both at home at at the office.

I am typing this on my new Macbook Pro!

Wow, is this ever a nice laptop! :bravo:

I am pretty jawdropped right now.

You mac guys, what kind of mouse should I get?

Jampy

Get anything you like but I would stay away from the mighty mouse it is over priced and not a great value. I tend to say Logitech's all work fine I use a Aopen at work it does the job.

I am old school still use a corded optical mouse, if you need a precise mouse look at laser mice, if you want cordless take a look at the bluetooth mouse from Targus, believe it or not it works very well and has the ability to recharge with the supplied usb cable.

Check it out here http://www.targus.com/ca/product_details.asp?sku=AMB03CA

It is a little smaller than a "normal" mouse but feels good and has some really cool features.

Glad to see you like your Mac, if you have any problems, questions or concerns feel free to ask me and I'll be sure to help you out.

Cool Robert! I just keep recycling old keyboards and mice as I go, and even use an old tan extended keyboard from the 90's with an old Kensington one button mouse. I also use the wired vs. wireless.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-Original-MAC-USB-PRO-Mouse-M5769-Keyboard-M7803_W0QQitemZ160214740599QQihZ006QQcategoryZ2544 5QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This keyboard/mouse combo works fine for me, but does not have the buttons. I like the feel of the keyboard, but you being a PC guy, might want one of the PC style mice. I defer to guys that know about those. I have always been a simple one button mouse guy.

Cool Robert, my mighty mouse kinda crapped out, kept developing little furry balls, eventually it got intermittent after someone slammed it against the desk impatiently. (It wasn't me this time, I swear !)
I replaced it with a Logitech optical wireless from Staples, reg. $76, instant $30 off and then a $20 mail in rebate no less. Works great, I would recommend it.
You have Staples or Business Depot where you are ?

Robert
March 5th, 2008, 10:31 PM
Yes, we have Staples in Camrose, and I have a Logitech wireless I'll try out. This new trackpad is quite sweet though. I'll try sticking to it for a while. Eventually I'll need to use a mouse of course.

Logitech and MS generally makes good stuff. I have the MS intellimouse 3.0 that I like a lot. I DONT like Apples own mouse, its not good at all.

Congrats to the Powerbook! :)
