Peavey T-40 bass anyone know about this bass?

My buddy has one of these, and is thinking of selling it. He got it for $200. How much are they worth? It looks like its oak or something. It's very heavy. It has four knobs on it. It's natural finish. black pick guard. Anyone have any info on these bass's?? Here's the exact same bass

Ash wood brother! Here are reviews and you can find full specs.These and the t-60 (guitar ) are very highly praised.They are a great undervalued guitar/bass.Id give $200 all day long so if he bought it for that you should be able to get it a lil lower from him!:D

It needs the truss rod wrench. Seems to be a custom fit truss wrench. I'll give 200 for it if he finds one of them and lets me set it up. Its got a serious bow in it.

That's right, they're Northern Ash (unlike the lighter swamp ash Fender uses for Strats and Teles). T-40's have a good rep as a reliable, virtually indestructible inexpensive USA-made bass.

There's an owners/players site for the related T-60 guitar at http://www.peaveyT-60.com , and a lot of people there own T-40's as well.

No worries, before I got a T-60 I didn't even realize there were more than one type of ash. Usually swamp ash is meant when in reference to guitars, and I think a lot of guitarists don't know about Northern.

I have a 1979 T 40 as well as 2 P basses and a Jazz Bass as well as several others. I still take my T40 to gigs once in a while. They are GREAT basses.
When I bought it I couldn't afford a Fender and the T 40 was the closest thing to a Fender that I could find. I still really like the sound and the action is great.
One of the most under rated bass ever made. All this time I thought is was swamp ash.

I have to co-sign that it is a great bass if it has been taken care of it is well worth the $200.00. Sounds like it needs a good setup I do not play mine as much anymore but it has all you need and then some tone wise to get the job done and more and it takes a beating and keeps on keeping on.
