I recorded the video that was on PBS at midnight last night of Stevie Ray Vaughn and his band in a live concert. If you missed it keep checking for it to show again. It is really good.

Blazes, Welcome to TheFret! Glad you joined us here.
Yes, there was a post about Jeff Healy's passing away in this forum earlier. Sad to hear about that.
You may want to say "Hello" in "The FretPlayer's" thread and let us welcome you.
You have some exceptional songs posted on your Myspace page, very nice playing, my friend.:AOK:

Dang, we did not get SRV here. I was just going to sit down to the Rolling Stone show, but it was preceeded by the 50 year anniversary of the Osmonds!!! Only in southern Idaho, or maybe Utah too.

Watching the Rolling Stone show now. Lots of good clips. Coupla thoughts/questions:

1. Who is that guy that played tele in the Blues Brothers. I just really like his stuff.

2. John Denver playing a Guild acoustic with the double pick guard. Was he that small or was that guitar just HUGE!! Looked like maybe it was a jumbo of some kind.

3. Doesn't seem like a lot of that stuff (mid to late 70s and forward anyway for me) was that long ago. But it was!!

Steve Cropper. With bassist Donald 'Duck' Dunn, too.

They've been together since the early 60's, going back to 'Booker T & the MG's' ('Green Onions'), with Duck, Booker T. Jones on B-3 and Alvin Jackson on drums. They were the heart of the Stax-Volt-Atlantic records Memphis soul sound. A/k/a the Bar-Kays.

That's them backing Aretha on 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T' and too many others to name, all the Sam & Dave hits, Otis Redding. Cropper's in-the-pocket licks hooked more hits than most people can think of.

One of my 'guitar heroes' learning to play bck then...

Yep guys, that's him. It was fun to see him again tonight. Still wish they aired SRV instead of the Osmonds. At least we got Sir Paul McCartney now after the RS thing. I looked in our Idaho PBS guide we get, and it does not look like SRV is on this month here.

Was it on the show "Austin City Limits"? PBS regularly plays two or three of Stevies ACL performances. Here's one: http://www.amazon.com/Stevie-Ray-Vaughan-Double-Trouble/dp/157330056X

and I think they've aired Live at El Mocambo too. Also very good.

IMO, those are both REQUIRED discs for any serious SRV collection. Also, there's a DVD included in THIS SRV BOX SET (http://www.amazon.com/Stevie-Ray-Vaughan-Double-Trouble/dp/B000051XZF/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1204653788&sr=1-12) that includes 5 additional tunes from the '89 ACL appearance that didn't make it into that first CD above, and they're excellent. Included is a performance of Couldn't Stand the Weather (AAMOF, you can hear the intro in that previous ACL DVD, but it cuts away before the song really starts) that is worth the price of admission by itself! And in addition to many of his popular tunes, the 3 CD's in the box set contain several interesting SRV performances not easy to find elsewhere--old stuff, live performances, supporting other artists, etc.
