Haha, you can sure tell which lawyers have clients into their offices and which don't.

The last time a client was in our offices was during UF graduation last year. His daughter was graduating and he stopped by to say hi on a Saturday.

It was about 1 pm, I was drinking a beer, and loading up my van for a show that night.

Thank goodness that particular client is a musician too.

Heh, heh, I get yelled at a lot for being obsessively organized Kris.:D But I am in a 12 step program.

I worked for a photography studio in high school and college for awhile Warren. But like most things I enjoy doing, the second I start doing it for money, I stopped enjoying it. I got back into it about six or seven years ago and started the collection. Eventually I narrowed it down to Canon 35 mm cameras.

This is my desk at home. I am sort of in the middle of doing my expense reports, playing guitar, on the forum, changing strings, dismantling a computer, preparing to ship a guitar, landing a plane on flight simulator, and eventually putting some tools away.

I hate to be so disorganized, but that's the way it is right now. Imagine that, this kind of mess and I don't even have a Law degree. Oh wait, neither do you guys.

Never heard of Exective Juris Doctor. Had to look it up-- only 2 US schools offer it. Apparently for people who don't want to be lawyers. If someone had that degree and then wanted to join a state bar in order to practice law, it looks seriously doubtful to me that such would be an acceptable substitute for a JD.

The old standard law degree in the US was the LL.B, Bachelor of Laws, which nowadays is more often called JD, juris doctor.

The most common advanced law degree in the US is the LL.M, master of laws.

Yep, I looked it up after I posted the question. When you see the title you would think that it was something that required additional education and was at a higher level for lack of a better term, but it's not. Strange that it's offered by only two schools.

The Fully, and my paralegal's daughter's Yammy 12 String. It lives here for now. I usually meet with clients in the conference room. Sometimes I clean up enough for clients, and I try to clean the office generally every two weeks or so. But during the hub bub, it is generally a bunch of piles all over.

I'll admit to being fairly antisocial in law school. I was always welcomed at parties and stuff as a musician who could provide music, either a band or canned, but didn't really fit in with a lot of my classmates.

My first band's first-ever gig didn't help either.

I've posted this in the "first gig" thread too, but it explains my ambivalence for some, maybe most, of my classmates:

Our first show was to have been at Lake Wauberg, a receation area for the University of Florida located just south of Gainesville. We agreed to play for free (as was true of almost all our shows) since there would be food and beer at this party hosted by some law school group. After schlepping our PA to the hall, tearing through our soundcheck ending with our deconstruction (most Atomics songs were deconstructions, as we seldom if ever attempted note-for-note covers, and hadn't any keyboards despite that numerous songs we covered did!) of Led Zep's "Rock and Roll," the noise complaints from the rich folks living on the other side of the lake began pouring in.

We were unceremoniously asked to leave, since the "guests" there had all paid a few bucks to get in and we had not. It was not even sugggested that we kick in a few bucks to stay, much less that our efforts in practicing up 4 sets of material and hauling and setting up, and then striking and loading out, our PA and backline might've been worth something. Our drummer, Chad, and our bassist Frank both wanted to commit a little mayhem in return for such shabby treatment, and in retrospect, that's exactly what we should've done. But I prevailed on them to simply eat and drink as much as we could during an extended load-out.

Freakin' law students. :reallymad:

Heh, heh, well it looks like I get to rib Brian and Kris for being "old farts" and Steve for being a "young punk". Started law school in '87 at the ripe old age of 27. I hung out with students who were mostly in their 30's and 40's because we were pretty well ostracized by the kids right out of college. It worked ok though, most of us had families so we weren't big into parties. While everyone else was out having fun, we were studying.:D

Haha, we have a lot in common (well maybe not the kicking *** in law school part). I used to live in the student ghetto about 7 or 8 blocks from law school and ride my skate to class.

One summer (I had to go 2 years solid with no summer break because of a change-over from semesters to quarters), when everyone else was looking for clerkships, I was so fed up and burned out I got a job as a summer camp counselor instead, where I could have fun and show up hung-over if necessary.

I also discovered a marvelous product that summer called "Super-Sun-In" which would lighten your hair if you went out into the sun with the stuff on your hair. But the darker your hair was to begin with, the more orange it would turn out. Back then my hair was dark brown, so when I returned to school that Fall I basically had orange hair. I'll see if I can scan a pic later, it was pretty hilarious. My law school "friends" would literally cross the street to avoid it looking like they knew me.

Here's a pic a month or two after having got back to school, after I'd had a haircut and the brown was growing back, where it almost looks like a real human's hair color:

Iirc Burrito Brothers still exists, it just moved a couple blocks away. Haven't been to the new location.

The Burger King you mention I remember. It's long gone, torn down.

There's lotsa places like that in G-ville. Do you remember the the Rathskellar on campus? I played the Rat back in the 80's and saw some cool shows there-- U2, Red Rockers, 999, 10,000 Maniacs, and lots of local bands like 29:02, the Bubbles, and the Invasion.

My goodness, long long time ago.

I can still remember, how the music used to make me smile.

Sorry, Don McLean moment there.

Circa 1973. Just in time for my first year of (3-year) high school. My dad was Navy, stationed at NAS Mayport near Jacksonville. He was the Communications Officer for Commander Carrier Group 6. Iirc the carriers were the Kennedy, the Rosie (Roosevelt), and the Ike (Isenhower). But that was a long time ago, so I could be wrong about the ships.

Oh yeah, we've probably been to some of the same shows. At the Bandshell here are some I've been to: Ramones, X, Devo, Midnight Oil, Plasmatics, Producers, Peter Tosh.

Lots more than that but they kinda blend together.

I'd love to play the Bandshell some day. Heck, I've played the Rat and the Orange and Blue, the Bandshell and the O'Dome are all that's left on campus. ;)

One of my amps played the O-Dome in the 80's though. Parliament/Funkadelic or Bootsy or someone like that played one Sunday and on the way down their gear truck rolled. My drummer was working Spinal Tech at the show and they basically rented every piece of gear they could find from every local musician that had an amp.
