Just wondering if anyone has seen or knows what type of guitar this is. It was really cheap and I picked it up for a display piece in a retail store (not to play). I was going to refinish it and thought I would like to know what it is. The seller said it was a Squier from Japan. Any thoughts? Just Curious.http://www.thefret.net/imagehosting/thum_383447fad8776ef78.jpg (http://www.thefret.net/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=442)

Wow, that's a $20,000 rare Japanese Strat, if it had a cigarette burn on the head it would be worth $30K.

Just kidding, I have no idea what it is, but welcome to thefret. Are you a player or a collector of things for displays - or both?

Well i guess I have a few too many guitars. I don't think so but some do. I'm thinking i may drag it behind my car and then have a relic. I also got it to practise some surgery and not mess up a nicer guitar.

Thanks for the welcome.

I think we all have at least one person that thinks that. some people just don't understand the addiction.

I also see you are familiar with the strange way the manufacturers find to increase the price of a guitar.

If you haven't already, stop over at The Fret Players section and formally introduce yourself.

It's an inexpensive 'Strat type' imitation (a/k/a knockoff), definitely NOT a Squier (the logo on the headstock looks like it's the Belaggio Hotel, Vegas), and if it was 'really cheap', it wasn't from Japan unless by way of Malaysia. I hope you didn't pay more than $100 US for it.

If you are going to tear it apart, I could use the springs from the saddles.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Bridgecraft guitar. They're just another inexpensive strat copy, usually available on eBay for under $100.

Harmony Central has serveral decent reviews of them, but if you're looking for a $100 strat, it's my understanding that SX is the way to go.

Well when i got it, the guy tells me he changed the neck. Who knows. I have since pulled off the pick guard and it has a sticker that says made in Japan. when I get some time I think I will play with it and see what I can do to make it look nicer or crapier. I'm thinking I will mod the head stock to look like a tele. As far as the color . . . any ideas?
