Ok, so i bought this "japanese squire" at a guitar swap. Its not really my thing looks wise and also sound wise. So I thought i would make it into something I've been digging lately. I saw a 60's players strat in baby blue with a rosewood fret board and a mint pick guard.

Two words . . .

Very cool.

I saw one on the forum and at the LGS. For the lucky dude who has one . . . congrats.:master: Also please post another pic of this gee tar for the cheap seats.

I will try and do mine justice.

I will go for the colour. I will hunt the mint pickguard. I will keep the rosewood. Tonight i will trim the headstock to go for a tele look, and finish off the sanding on the body. Im thinking about upgrading some parts like some new p.ups.

My question~

Vintage reverse wound or hot overwound?

Was also thinking of dropping one of these in there.

My second question~

Will this overdrive switch only work with a tube amp or would i get "tone" with my solid state practise amp.

Open for ideas and suggestions.

If you go with that boost switch setup, I'd stick with the vintage pickups. Seems to me you'd get a greater tonal range that way. Let the boost switch provide the "hot" tones, and leave it off for classic Strat tones.

Should work with any type of amp you use, tube or SS.

Thanks Ted, my first mod like this. Now if I could just find the right colour powder blue for the body.

Oh oh, so i dusted it with a baby blue. I also went over it with a cheap poly. Not only did it orange peel but the poly had a yellowish colour to it.

ugh.
