No comparison. Totally different feel and sound plus the SZ has no tremolo.

Alder body on the Luke mahogany on the SZ. Active pickups on the Luke passive on the SZ.

The Luke models either Musicman or OLP are guitars that the more you play them the more you say "wow! this neck is amazing."

It does play very nicely. I haven't plugged in and played loudly yet. That is on the schedule for tomorrow.

Musicman does build incredible guitars right here in the USA and they are very reasonably priced. Think about the artists that have signature MM guitars: Steve Morse, Albert Lee, John Petrucci, Steve Lukather and Eddie Van Halen. Is it a coincidence? Nope. They flat out make a great guitar.

22 pounds? It comes with a case.:D ...........and a DVD that will make you play like a pro in one month.:rotflmao:

I was asked the differences between the OLP and the Musicman. This is pretty much it.

1. Electronics are silent on the MM and noisy on the OLP
2. Pop in adjustable tension trem arm on MM - screw in on the OLP
3. Neck/body joint is smooth on the MM - more bulky on the OLP
4. MM has a more solid neck mount 5 bolt versus 4 on the OLP
5. MM body is alder - OLP is basswood
6. MM has Schaller locking tuners - OLP generic sealed
7. MM has compensating nut - OLP doesn't
8. MM made in America - OLP Asian
9. Case included with MM - OLP no case
10. Huge brass block on MM trem - OLP is cast zinc

The necks generally feel the same shape wise but the MM is smooth as a baby's butt and the OLP needs a lot of attention to get it there. The OLP is pretty well made though for an inexpensive copy. They sound very similar as both have active pickups. I'll be keeping my OLP and doing some fine tuning on it.

Nah... Spud's not giving us a clip for two reasons:

1. It's sitting in his living room, on a stand, resplendent in it's Luke glory. He's afraid to play it, lest his drool would harm the finish.

2. Spud's afraid that if he does post a clip, all us other fretters would be green with envy. I know I am already!

Great guitar, Spuds. Hope to hear you playing it soon! :AOK:

This is for all you buggers.

The reason I didn't do clips is because I had just switched to digital from the Vamp Pro into the Lexicon and I hadn't got it to work yet. I don't know why they have to make these things so complex. Activate this driver, deactivate that driver, deactivate your inputs, press the assign button, switch out the ASIO driver, now switch it back in....CRIPES!

Anyway, I got it working so here are your bloody clips.

First one is a little cleaner. Luke>Vamp Pro>Cubase
Second one has more gain. Luke>Vamp Pro>Cubase

Best of all...the guitar is dead quiet. No hum or buzz.
