I'm not sure we will get a great response as some people prefer not to expose any part of their true identity. I also wanted to set up a poll, but I don't know how to do that (if a mod would like to set it up on here, feel free)

Since there are a number of Steve's on the forum, I became curious just what are the most common names (real names).

Mine is Mark.

"Matt" . . . hmmm . . . It's funny how you have pictures and thoughts in your mind of your friends on the forum, and then little things throw you for a loop. Honestly Marnold, I'm not sure what I thought your first name was, but I wouldn't have guessed Matt. Maybe Joshua . . . or Jeremiah?:D

Oh come on now. :poke: We are mostly 40 somethings and everyone born back in the 60's knows darn well Steve was the most popular name back then, and our sample population here at the fret bears that out for sure. :AOK: :AOK: :D :D

You'll notice that "Matthew" isn't on that list. That's one of the reasons my parents named me that. Of course, that all changed right about the time I was born for some reason. In my graduating class of 52 from high school we had three Matts.

When I graduated it was a class of approximately 950 and I can remember only one other Mark (actually Marc - I went to school with him for 12 years). Although I didn't know everyone, I don't recall another Mark. In my working career, I never worked with another Mark until the current place I work and there are three of us. The other two are father and son. I come to this forum and there are a number of them, but then again this is an international forum.

Just a little name story. My name is Mark Alan Kovacs and my mother wanted my initials to spell out my first name. When I had my Confirmation, I took the name Robert, so my mother was happy. However, I can remember arguing with her for days because I wanted to take the name Ringo and then we would both be happy (sorta), but that didn't happen.

The younger crowd isn't going to get that, but I sure the hell did.

I saw them do that live at a night spot in downtown Cleveland and three guys from Texas opened for them. They ended up growing long beards and had a couple of hits, I think they called themselves ZZ something.

I know, I told the story before, but I think it's cool no matter how many times I tell it.

It was the early 70's, I don't remember much and I had no clue who the hell was ZZ Top. The "Dave's not home" skit pretty much summarizes my condition in the early 70's.:rotflmao:

Oh, there was no "backstage" there was the side of the stage and you could stand there and talk to them - it was just a large bar that booked national acts. Bruce Springsteen performed there too.

Well, mine's Keith, and it was given to me in the 50's when there weren't many with that name. Growing up in the fifties & sixties, I found that there were more Brits with the name than Americans. As a matter of fact, my whole name is very Anglo, even though I'm a typical American mixed breed mutt of three different nationalities...:D
