At last I'm stepping onto a stage in New Zealand. Tomorrow I'm playing some guitar behind a pal at an open mic night at Finn's cafe in Paekakariki (where the Red Witch pedals come from :AOK: ). I'll be using my tele, a VOX DA5 and a tremolo pedal to avoid having to do the VOX "tap'n'twist" to get the trem dialled in. Wish me a broken leg...

I don't think they drink Fosters in Aus. I think they prefer Budweiser. :thwap:

Yeah, you can make a cast from the cans if the break is low enough. Seriously, have a great night out!

P.S. I can't believe Australians would prefer Budweiser. But then again, I think Bud is one of the worst beers out there. I prefer even PBR to Bud if you are going to go cheap American mass produced beer. :D

I can believe anything of Australians but then I live in New Zealand ;)

HaHa, New Zealand (Un Zud) and Aus are different countries.

Also, this may sound strange but very very few Aussies drink Fosters.

Break a leg mate, but more importantly have fun.

Oops, duh! I guess I was keying on the Fosters cans. My son's soccer coach is from NZ, and a lot of Aussies work and live here in the area, and I certainly know the difference. Great guys and ladies all! My son's coach, a real character with grey dreadlocks and a Liverpool Football Club tattoo on his shin, favors beer in green bottles that say Steinlager, and plenty of them!

Break a leg!

Has Finns got any connexion to the Brothers Finn?

PS-- for Aussie beer I prefer Castlemaine XXXX.

Are there any good Kiwi beers?

That makes the Baby Jesus cry.

My one brief sojourn in England was a couple decades ago, but people there thought of Bud as the ultimate US beer.

Eww. The dang stuff has RICE in it.

Rice belongs in sake, not beer!

My thoughts exactly! I was raised in Seattle where we like our beer like our coffee, dark and strong! And no rice!

How did the gig go?

Alright really. People were astounded when I told them the DA5 was only a 5 watt amp. In the end I found a way round the tap'n'twist that worked OK so didn't take a pedal and only used the Clean 2 (fender) tone. I'm glad it was a low pressure local open mic though, it's been a while since I played without the hiding places you get in a full band :)

Hey, Swede, steak and kidney pies are a staple in NZ too, yummy :AOK:

Oh, and Tuatara beer from just up the road in Reikorangi is great too.

Mark, you eat Kidney Pie in NZ??? I thought that was a british thing from ww2 where they didnt have anything else to eat during the blitz.

It does smell like urine.
