If I was to build a Stratocaster using a body and neck from Warmoth, which are licensed by Fender, does it count as a Fender Stratocaster?

No. Its a Stratocaster built using licenced parts.
Unless it was built by fender and carries fender serial numbers its not a fender.

No it wouldn't, but does it matter?

Just think of the AUD$'s you'd be saving by using warmoth parts! If anything, practice your hot-rodding on a cheapie, then move onto an actual Fender or Squier when your skills improve.

I'm already doing a Squier. I've done an old Washburn N2 Nuno Betterncourt model aswell. That came up pretty nice, I sold it for $400AUD. (Bought it for $200)

You sold the Nuno? Dang that would have been a cool guitar to have.

Yeah, it was pretty cool, but it was a bit too...'in my face' for my liking. I prefer something more mellow like a Strat or Tele.:rotflmao:

The Nuno Washburns have an amazing cutaway behiing the neck that make it feel like a neck-thru body... simply amazing. I hope to have one of those also someday.
