What does it actually mean when noted as "FAT"

What does it actually mean when noted as "FAT"

Fat refers to the humbucker in the bridge position, double fat is two humbuckers. Mine is a standard series double fat.

By the way, stop posting these things! It is difficult for a poor student such as myself to endure the temptation. So much GAS has built up in here that a spark would be catastrophic.;)

You know darn well Spud gets enjoyment out of these teases that he throws out. On the positive side, he does come across some great deals. If you happen to be in the market for something he spots, great. If you just bought a guitar and don't need to buy another so soon - try stringing garlic around your neck, I hear that keeps Spud away, but it also drives everyone else away.

Now go break open the piggy bank and post some pics of the guitar that, despite your funds, you are itching to buy.:D

I hope Kodiak is looking at this, I think FATHERS DAY IS CLOSE, isn't it. That Fat Strat may be just the thing for me.

Another great guitar from Squier. I have the SSS version and it is one of the prettiest guitars I own. The dark QMT and the Pearl guard are just killler.
The neck is amazing and mine has one of the lowest actions I have on any of my Strats. I would highly recommend this guitar. I paid almost double that in NC with a Gig Bag. The pickups are a little noisey but are excellent Strat pickups.

Note the back of this guitar is Black. The edge of the black sunburst comes from the front of the guitar and the back is all black. They are made in China and are very well made.
If there are any left I would be all over this one.

A bit of a hijack, but does anyone know what the Deluxe Hot Rail Strats are like? I'm actually asking what are Hot Rails like and is the sound/tone suitable for certain styles of music?

The only hot rails I am familiar with are Joe Bardens. They were made originally for Danny Gatton, a legendary Tele Player. Barden also made a Strat set as well as the tele pickups. They are a hummbucker that fits into a single coil hole. They are very sensitive and quite nice. I have a friend who has a set in a mexican tele and a mexican strat. They are pretty amazing.
Seymour Duncan makes an SHR-1 that is 16 to 18 K ohms and are very high output. A lot of guys use them instead of a regular hummbucker. I have heard different takes on them from good to awful. It depends on your tastes.
I would say they are more for country than anything else.

The one I was looking at has 3 Duncan Designed™ HR-101 Hot Rails Pickups, but wasn't sure how they sound and couldn't locate any clips - although I didn't look very hard either.

Hey Spudman did you jump on the Deluxe Qmt. I am always amazed at how many people are just absolutley blown away by the looks of this guitar. I have had it for at least 3 years because I bought it in NC when my daughter was living there. I had it set up down there by a guy named Bubba, yes Bubba, and it felt like a Bubba guitar. I brought it home and had my guy do his magic on it and it plays like a dream.

I was this close I<--->I to buying one today, but instead I bought a stereo for my daughters car. Nothing fancy, but she didn't have a CD player, so....

I agree that it's a beautiful guitar but I'm, how you say, over guitared at the moment.:o

I hear ya. I am now wondering if the Classic vibe is a good idea. I had made it my resolution to get down to 4 or 5 really top quality guitars. I had started then I discovered the Squiers now I have more than ever.

I guess I can come up with a catchy phrase like "Just say NO to guitars". Pretty orginal?
