It appears that the 1970s had much better music than the 80s. Did we just post 80s cheese or was there music this good in the 80s?

Though there are a few exceptions [like Tom Waits' trilogy of 80's albums] I find the music of the 80's doesn't hold a candle to the music of the 70's. Not only do I find the 70's produced much more interesting music, I find that 70's music holds up MUCH better to the test of time than 80's music does.

I also listened to different 70s music than you mostly, though I like Styx, and the Godzilla one is classic.

Here are a few I liked, kinda in order.

30UuyFbCNXk&feature=relatedFuneral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. I always wanted to be able to play this on piano. i still will learn it one day. Elton and Co. were my first rock heroes, other than kid rock like the Monkees.

q2y5-DY5oU4&feature=relatedChicago, 25 or 6 to 4. I love this one, and Chicago influenced me a lot. My mental warm up song for football. I know it is from 69, but to me, it was a 70s song.

IcsVPis1iNsBoston, this was a middle school anthem.

sCzdfkW7YnU Then these guys rocked my world. VH

N9i2fqxSjTI Then these guys. Zep.

And Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp, Kansas, Steely Dan, etc.

Ok, I like these guys too.

t0ncHXNPEXU&feature=related Benson, World is a Ghetto (audio only, but check it out), back then I was convinced he was every bit as good a guitarist as Page or Eddie V. I still am. He is just different.

zyKSmHADft8 These guys were big for me too. E, W, and F

Another one of my all time favorite 70s tunes, though I didn't listen to it until the 80s.

PYPSZiE0OAs Thunderoad, Springsteen and E Street

I love 70´s rock like early Aerosmith and Steppenwolf (the list goes on and on)...

However, the 80´s werent that bad... a lot of cool rock´n´pop songs, just dont look at their clothes/hair.

I will always groove on the 70s forever and that's all I play. The 80s has made some great grooves also.

Keep 'em alive!

Disco was in the 70s.

Game, set, match.

80s for teh win!

Actually, there is a lot of 70s music that I like. I mean, if I did nothing but mention Zeppelin, the 70s would have some value. Since I am the whitest funk fan ever (maybe Robert can offer some competition there), I can't forget Parliament Funkadelic and the like. I also LOVE watching the "AM Gold" and other Time-Life CD collection infomercials. Dunno what it is but it's the best 1/2 hour of entertainment on TV today!

Disco still sucks though.

I dug out on the Ohio Players, AWB, KC & the Sunshine Band, Kool and the Gang and some of those other funkadelics, but my heart still holds true to the Classic and Southern Rock of the 70's. Yeah, there's a few 80's songs that I like, but not much.

Give me Edgar Winter or Foghat or Skynyrd any day!
You can keep your Boy George and Flock of Seagulls and such. :whatever:

And, yes, SISCO DUCKS!

Hey, come on, I like those guys. :)

They're pretty good. I don't care for disco much but there was some good stuff there. For any genre there's some talents in 'em but lots of wankers that give 'em bad names.

I don't care for rap and hip hop either but I know talent when I hear it.

Now that I look back (I was a long haired rocker, went to concerts at the L.A. forum,Who,Fog Hat Humble Pie ect. for only 3.50 too)but those Disco guys who we made fun of and sold pot too well they got all the fine babes and all we got was the organic babes with the long armpit hair.So ther is something to be said for Disco if I knew then what I know now,I might have been doing the John T. if you know what I mean.Sumi:D

You got the ones with long armpit hair, why couldn't I ever get that lucky? :rotflmao:

I loved Disco. Ofcourse, I didn't know anyone that liked Rock. Then I met this guy that turned me on to Boston and the my musical world changed. I still think those Disco songs are great but guitar oriented music of the 70's and 80' is just better.

Oh, don't call them "Organic Babes". Make that "Organic Girls".
