I go through phases where I will listen to a vast amount of work from just one artist until the fancy passes and I repeat with another :) Anyway, I've been listening to solo Townshend projects and rewatching old clips as of late. I believe I mentioned before how seeing him perform with The Who during the It's Hard tour fueled a lifelong addiction to obtain his exact model Schecter guitar :)
Anyway, in addition to a few others, Townshend was definitely a major influence on not only me wanting to play guitar but also on my musical tastes. I was immediately drawn to his mixed rhythm/lead style of playing and his songwriting. The consummate showman with talent in spades. So here's to Townshend - I'm pretty sure a few of you here prolly dig him too :)
