This is just a short blurb till I get pics together.

All I can say, without repeating what others have said, is that this is the first guitar I've bought in 3 years that I havn't felt the need to change something on it because it didn't fall in line with rhe way I wanted it.

As an example, I took my Deluxe and changed the saddles, tuners and nut!

It didn't need the changes, I just needed to make the changes so it would fit the way I wanted it to be. Havn't put it up since I got it!
Till now!
I have not put this tele down, in my free time, since I got it yesterday.
I'm even playing it with the 9s still on it.
I have a Fender Lite Ash that was my favorite Tele, after a few changes.
The sound of this beast's pickups beats the SDs on that Lite Ash hands down!
The look, feel and sound make me want to keep playing it till I'm runnin' late for work and forgeting my lunch. And I've only had it for 2 days!

I've modded necks to get the look and feel that this one comes with, stock!
I've swapped out pickups to get the sound that this one has, stock!
The trick with the pickups is to adjust thier hights and find the right balance.
By the way, the body has a route for a neck humbucker.

If you havn't figured it out yet, this Squier, is the Tele I've always wanted.
Even the finish and color is perfect!
I'll put up more after I take some pictures of her.

Nice! Goes on the list. That is my long range hunting plan, Agile epi probably first, then with the money I save over getting the Epi Ultra II for a Paul, set up the shot for a Squire tele.

Congrats Dauntless. It's nice to see manufacturer's paying attention by making the perenial favourite neck bucker mod, a simple one to do. :AOK:

Squiers getting better and better all the time.. I wonder how long until they realize that their current offerings match the quality of the mexicans..

In my opinion, it surpasses the Mexican Fenders.
I almost bought a Mexican 50's Tele, it felt so right!

This Squier bests what the Mexi had to offer!
Sound, fit and finish!

I just wish they made a standard or better that looks like a '52 with butterscotch blond and black PG. There is an Affinity that is close, but I don't like the neck color.

Pinecasters are very cool and now Fender produce one and it's a Squier:eek:

The world is becoming stranger by the day. I wonder if they'll make it to NZ, the guitar market here is pretty limited.

SVL, have a look at the CIJ 52s if you want a blonde (well, natural really but stained butterscotchy) blackguard. They have superb necks and a choice of Texas Specials or Original Vintage pickups.

I have a couple of pics now!

If you hadn't noticed, I still managed to find something to change.
I had an old Fender string tree that I put on with an ashtray cover.
The cover fits better on the this Squier's bridge, than on my Fender's bridge

I hope you can see the grain, cause she's awful purdy!!

Now, for my next trick, I will attempt to get one of the Strats in that series!

That looks very nice. This model is getting some really good quick reviews from folks who ordered right away and have taken delivery.

I love that an ashtray will mount correctly without any issues - it's looks even more like a '50s Tele! :AOK:

I'll definitely be getting one of these - the only question will be when I can order it - my cars and house unfortunately need more work - and those are a little more important than another guitar at the moment. :thwap:

Thanks for the review. A telecaster is next on my list and I've been looking at this one (especially for the price). I have not read a bad review and mostly the reviews have been rave. I'll have to see if I can play one locally.

Hey Dauntless: How do you like the vintage style bridge on the tele. It certainly looks vintage but can you get a good low action on the neck with that bridge. I am a total tele newbie but I did try every one that I could get my hands on including the 52 reissue from Fender. That was the only one that actually felt good. Fender also includes a 6 saddle bridge with that one. I am really trying to like the tele but I don't want to pay 1500 for a 52 reissue. I do have a CV 50s Strat. How would you compare the Tele to and American, because the CV Strat holds it own wonderfully.

$259.00. That's 40 dollars off the going price. I've bought 3 guitars from that shop and they always cut me good deals. Dauntless's pics have been haunting me all week I had to do something about it. Thanks Dauntless!

Zman,

uncleikes.com I think it is, no affilliation, has some Peavey tele types for sale as low as 149 for the triple single, a super great tele with a tele bridge pup and two strat type pups; a Peavey Generation EX Vintage, my favorite, with a full size vintage chrome humbucker in the neck and a peavey tele bridge pup for 179, and a Peavey Genertation Custom with two vintage peavey humbuckers and piezo electric saddle acoustic pups with acoustic modelling circuit and a toggle switch to switch to acoustic only, blend of acoustic and humbucker with a variable blend knob, and a humbucker only toggle switch position and additionally a five way switch for the humbuckers on this tele that lets you play the bridge as a single coil in pos one, a bridge full bucker in pos two, both full buckers in pos three, neck full bucker in pos four, and neck single coil in pos five; this is 249 but I got mine for 199 which is what MF is selling it for. I got it locally w price matching of the MF price. Great tele.

The Peavey Generation EX classic has the full tele twang tone, but the Vintage with the peavey vintage humbucker in the neck has outstanding bridge tele twang and the cool sound of the bucker in the middle and neck.

These are very high quality tele type guitars that are being discontinued while Peavey moves to an apparently more KISS with makeup type of a motif.

Bound to be collectors items, just like these CV's I suppose.

Not to get off the topic of these beautiful Squires, but for someone on a budget those high quality Peavey's are unreal.

Okay, so the uPS man arrived early today...with my Squier in hand:bravo:

First quick observations:
Single box shipped, not double boxed as other have reported, guitar unharmed in shipping though.

The neck is glossy, has a nice shape, comfy all over, not flammed or quarter sawn as some of the others Ive seen, nice but just not uber fancy.

High E nut slot is barely cut, string just pops right out....that appears to be the only "issue"

Pots seem dry(easily remedied)

The color is nice, nice grain showing.

Tuners work nice
Arrived almost in tune(is that a good thing?)

Once I get this nut slot cut I could probably give a better opinion of this, but she looks like a keeper!:AOK:

On second thought, I may play this through out the weekend, but I think shes going back...Im finding more.

The nut slot wasnt cut deep enough because it appears to have been filled to correct too wide of a string spacing at the nut...the string was resting on it, so it might have given the appearance it was done.

The pickguard cover(the plastic film) has vertical scratches on it...which kinda implies its been played a bit...and not carefully.

Also the neck pickup doesnt have the clear plastic film on it...the cover is scratched pretty good.

The string through ferrules, the high E one is sunk further into the body...on the bridge side the string through hole doesnt line up with the bridge hole (its offset a bit)this gives me the impression the ferrule was crammed in there because of the offset...strange how all these issues are on the high E string:confused:

And lastly, the one thing that stands out the most...no quality control hang tag like all the others Ive seen...and Ive got a pretty good idea why thats missing.

I could live with this if this was given to me...but I wouldnt have taken this one home if Id purchased one from an actual store...I probably wont do mail order for a new guitar again...but I will have a replacement CV 50s Tele sent to me ASAP....I still have a good feeling about this line of guitars and Id still recommend them, just not this one.

BTW this one feels sub 8 lbs.

Sounds like you got a returned guitar, one someone else rejected.

Aside from Leo, who rejected the concept of the CV Tele when he rejected pine body idea of his original Tele (Broadcaster) prototype 60 years ago.

Yeah, I think that is quite possible, I called and got an RA# shortly after my last post. They offered me $50 more dollars off, I declined, and then they offered me $50 and then additional in house credit, I further declined and told the lady I just want a new CV 50s, "Tell them to pick me a winner this time!"
IM sending it back on Monday...now back to the agony of waiting again...2 or more weeks:thwap:

BUT on a possitive note...I have been playing the guitar, and so have my friends! And everybody really seems to like it(even with all its minor issues).
The pickups on this thing are pretty damn awesome! The neck pickup, I could live there! I could even do leads off of that thing, very nice! The middle and bridge possitions are nice too...but having said all of that, I dont hear Led Zeppelin I when I play this guitar. I know it sounds strange, but when I pick up a Tele, I normally hear tones of early Zeppelin...alot of times a tele will bring me to start playing Zeppelin, but I just dont hear Stairway to Heaven when I play this guitar...and that is one of the tones Im after. To me she sounds more Straty...and Id kinda like to put this neck pup in a Strat! But Id play this pickups a loooong time before thinking of replacing them...they really do sound great!
AND...this guitar is alot of fun to play....everybody loves the neck on it!
