Which guitar defines YOU?

Which guitar is the one you most prefer to play, find the most comfortable, and generally defines you as a guitarist?

Currently it's my Godin Radiator, but I wouldn't say it defines me.

When I have more experience I'll come back to this poll, but I can't guarentee that my answer will be on the list.

None of my possessions could ever define me... I surely hope no person could be defined by theirs. I like to believe that most people are slightly deeper than that.

I have to agree with Rocket, so I will answer the first two parts of the question.

At this time I would probably say my Dot. It seems to be putting out a tone that is more pleasing and I just find it more satisfying to play. Tomorrow may be a different tune (pun).

I just play each guitar that seems to have the magic that night or that might be best to get me in that hotly pursued "ZONE"

I must say that it's a combination of guitars and can change with the mood, there are times it's the Takamine, other times my Godin and then there are days it says Strat and my hollow body istn't at home yet.

It changes with what I need, but right now, it's a Les Paul, followed closely by the SG.

Stratocaster for me.
It was my first good guitar and I think I got my first new one in 1976. I've always had one and usually is the one that always gets me through the gig with the biggest satisfaction quotient.

I dunno about defines me, but my guitars certainly say a lot about me. Mostly they say "This guy can't play for sh*t!!!"

I see it a bit like Ro3b and Rocket too, but I can take the question and rephrase it as which guitar is the one I relate to most. Even at that, it is too early to say. I only have a strat, and acoustic and a strat knockoff. I have played some LPs though, and though I want to add one, I currently tend to fit a strat more naturally with the higher string tension and rounder fretboard. I don't want to say more because I do not want to limit myself in my mind. I might change my mind later. ;) For now I vote strat.

Of the guitars I currently own it's the ES-135. It's tone is just much more suited to my style of playing most of the time. That said, I know that when it comes down to it, I am a Tele player, I just don't own a Tele yet.

Haha, yeah, I have batches of 'em, and no matter what I play I still sound like me.

That being said, my faves are Teles and LP's in a dead heat. SG and Strat not so much, though I typically have one of each type of those as well.

As others have mentioned, I don't think it defines me, rather it's what I relate to or what feels comfortable/natural in my hands, so I voted Tele. That said, I've been getting some great vibe from my Washburn HB-30 (a 335 style semi-hollowbody) lately, and my Strat is starting to grow on me...

What about bass? That was my first instrument, so I'm kinda about groovin' in the pocket...

Yeah, I'm a complex man and it takes more than one guitar to define me.

Hey, maybe I'll use that on Mrs. T and see if I can get permission to go after a Gretsch! :rotflmao:

You guys hanging on the word define are being a bit anal and kinda going way over what was intended here. By defining let's say "associate with". What do you see yourself "associating with" more or what guitar do other musicians, if applicable, associate you with. I know I surprised a friend or two with a certain purchase that they never thought I would buy. This is all I'm getting at here.

For me definitely a strat. Even though my Agiles are shorter scale, something about the strat just "feels" right to me.

I normally have between 10 and 15 electrics. If you see me out playing at least one of the guitars I will have with me on stage will be one of Grover Jacksons Chicago Custom 93-96 Washburn USA MG's. Doesn't matter what else I may have around there will be at least one of these on stage.
Lately this one is the #1 it's a 1995 MG 120 but I own 7

It's gotta be the bass -- my EB-3. I've played that thing so much for so long that it has shaped how I hear, feel and think about music. Forever stuck in the bass clef!!! As for six-stringers, I'm partial to my Epi Dot on electric, and acoustically, my Washburn W52SW speaks best for me (although it's not the easiest to play).
