The link is to my facebook album of Bubba - my most recent project. I explain everything there.

It's a full-on photo journal (27 in all) of most of the process. It's interesting, trust me. Not many mods noob hot-rodders tend to make.

I am very proud of this - even though it has its imperfections by the dozen. If you really want to learn about the instrument you play on a whole new level - build one.

I'm still waiting for the lacquer to dry so I can give it a proper polish, but could y'all tell me what you think?

I'd get some clips up, but I've just noticed that the middle pup wiring is coming lose or is shorting out so I've got to tinker with that before any recordings - but trust me - I'll start a whole new thread with the Chromacaster (I'm still getting used to the 11 added tonal combinations - so 16 total!!). They are excellent!!

Cheers!!

I've uploaded the photos to Flickr now because the facebook thing doesn't seem to be working.

Bad times. . . No back-up plan. . . I may have to use another server to upload the gallery. . . Any suggestions? (I can't be bothered to resize 27 photos to upload to TheFret. . .)

Facebook tells me this:
"This content is currently unavailable

The page you requested can not be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page."

Anyway, I usually use Google's Picasa (http://picasa.google.com). I just use their web albums instead of using their software.

What if I send a link to my profile page?

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=632872787

Does that help?

edit - maybe not - you have to be signed up to facebook to view a profile.

Sorry dude, I'll sort it soon. . .

another option is flickr.

www.flickr.com

With a free acount the size of the pics is limited, but still good enough I reckon. They have a cool upload tool too that makes it super simple and does all the resizing for ya. I've been known to throw 20MB+ jpgs at it and it just turns them into the right size and gets them up there.

I can see the pics on Facebook this morning. I don't know if it is because you befriended me or not.

Very cool project. I don't know if I would have had the courage to do the carving and things like that. I can't remember what pickups you said you used on that. Of course, now we need clips!

I could only afford cheapies - they are by a company called Artec

Ceramic magnets at around 10K ohms with a reverse-wound middle and they are encased solidly in chrome. They sound nice, but I've got to check the wiring of the middle pup - it's either loose or shorting - before I get the clips. But they will surface, trust.

Where did you get them from?

Where did you get them from?

Unfortunately you may have to do a bit of routing around - there seem to be few official UK suppliers.

They use another name as well: Giovanni

http://www.artecsound.com/pickups/index.html

That is their official site

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Single-Strat-style-pickups-Chrome-set-of-3-NEW_W0QQitemZ160119892277QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3 286.m20.l1116

That was the actual listing I purchased from - they are excellent sellers (the items came quick-as) you'll need to fork out for the screws as well.

There is another excellent parts supplier that has some Artecs in every now and again (and I use this supplier almost exclusively for everything else as well)

www.axesrus.com

You'll need a while to check out all these sites. Have fun!

Nice project thearabianmage. Man you were knee deep in the hoopla with that baby. It is awesome when we get to personalize our instruments, I like how you have done the engraving. Very nice indeed:AOK:

Hey, thanks man! It became an obsession after a while. My friends got really tired of me always goin on about Bubba and showing them pictures and stuff. . .

And as you say - it's awesome customizing and personalizing our instruments - it really makes it feel like it's mine.

Cheers
