I'm taking my monkeys

I'm taking my monkeys up some of these mountains.
All the Spud family gets to recreate in the wilderness from Wednesday till Sunday and this is the area we are going to. Last time the Mrs. and I went we stared across the expanse at these peaks from where we were camping and climbing. This time little Spud is going and she gets to monkey to her hearts delight...me too.;)

We made it back with no mishaps. :AOK: It was a FABULOUS five days in the Sawtooth Wilderness.

Warm, sunny and clear days with beautiful clear starlit nights with a slight breeze. Perfect sleeping temp at night and even though it was hot during the days there was a good breeze almost all the time. Perfect!

I'm pretty impressed with our little 9 year old girl. She does it all with us. When we get to big rock she just leaves us behind...until she gets stuck.:D

This is our view from our camp site. There were climbers on the wall everyday. They would basically be 3 or 4 pixels big on your screen.

It is really hard to convey the enormity of this area with a photo but do you see the snow patch just to the right of the tree branch? Well we climbed to that one day. It was a 7 hour trip with over 4,000 vertical. Now look at the next picture and see if you can see the snow patch.

The snow patch (pass) we climbed to is just to the right of the lowest spot on the horizon.

Glad you got back safe and had a great trip. As you know, we were on vacation over in the Puget Sound region and I will post some pics as well at some point. I will want a full report so I can plan a family trip as well. :-)

You'll get a full report for sure, but unless your family likes military style death hikes you might want to try another basin.

Come on down and spend a while. As for hauling amps and guitars...porters is all I have to say. So if we get porters we might as well haul in big stuff and big batteries and lights and a PA.:D

Oh, the horror of having to deal with that every day for five days.

Great pics and I'm glad everyone made it back ok. The last time I read about families going over mountains like that, somebody ended up getting eaten.

I love Georgia, but damn, I wish the mountains here looked that THAT.

Cool thing here is that when it rains all your stuff doesn't turn red either. Chiggers are in short supply but we do have the world headquarters for mosquito manufacturing.
