View Full Version : Two Years Ago Today

At about 5:30 AM two years ago today I was in the back of the ambulance with an oxygen mask in the early stages of a heart attack. The ambulance attendants couldn't find a vein (not a problem for someone we know), the ambulance was the most uncomfortable ride and I'm yelling "just stick the IV in f'g foot dammit."

About 11 AM I'm rushed down to surgery and I have two stents inserted in my heart. For those that don't know, they enter through the crotch region, so you have to get shaved (sort of like a porn star).

Anyway, it has now been two years - feel free to shower me with free guitars as a way to commemorate this moment.

It's the only way I could get a vacation from work.

Congrats Strum. Stay healthy. :bravo:

I just read a new study that says eating right, moderate excercise plus buying and selling guitars (and modifying the same) are the real keys to health. :poke:

Why? You'd just sell them in two weeks anyway, or post infuriantingly maddening partial pics of the guit that just drives me nuts.

:poke: :D

Had to be a harrowing experience for you. Glad that you recovered and are around to keep posting, brother.:AOK:

Wow. I haven't been here for two years but I'm glad you have. As one of our radio announcers used to say every day- Keep on keepin' on, man :AOK:

Strum... you possess a warped sense of anniversary!
Most people tend to anniversarize (is that a word?) the more happy of occasions.
Maybe you should memorialize that particular occasion until your cardiologist allows you to celebrate a past heart-attack with cake & ice cream.

(...glad you're still with us tho.)

I don't remember the heart attack Strummy, but I remember the day you got back from the hospital well. The first thing you did was hit the computer and check on the . . . um . . . other forum. It's nice to see your still around my friend.

Feels like it was not that long ago, Strum. If I recall correctly, you kinda made a post where you were basically describing how you were feeling the onset of the 'cardiac event'. Then...some days go by and next we know, you're back for recoup period that Shiner mentions. Glad you made it through all that, amigo. Here's to ya

I'm celebrating being here, the HA anniversary popped into my head Sunday night.

As for "anniversarize" you probably picked that up watching all the taped George Bush speeches you have in your collection.

According to the elastic rules of the "Bush Method"... one never questions the validity of any word that may spill out. The mere act of utterance automatically includes/validates it into the lexicon!

And people wonder how he had two terms.

Yep, me too!

Damn, Strum, I never knew you HA'd. Best of luck to you pal. But....uh...uh....uh...living in Cleveland as you do; uh..I can't imagine that LeBron and the Cavaliers going belly-up every post-season in the playoffs is doing your heart any good either, right?? :bravo:

I'm not showering you...period!

You'll try to show me your "porn-star" patch.

I'm very glad that you made it through & to the Fret.

I can't imagine a Strumless Fret.

In fact, I think we saved you from the future so you'd be here.

Feel free to SEND me guitars as thanks.

Glad all is going well Strum, my boss just came back from a funeral of a 47 year old Marathon runner who dropped dead on Saturday while doing his morning jog. Yes, heart-attack and the guy was given a clean bill of health in May.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are , I live for today.
