I added a chat to the Fret as have been suggested.

The link to is at the top nav bar. http://www.thefret.net/chat.php

I am not sure yet if we will keep this chat. Let's try it for a while and see what you guys think. If it doesn't get used or if it gets abused, then I'll take it down.

The java doesn't work for me on this end. In both Mozilla and IE. Might be the filter we got.

I gave it a shot the other day and it locked up my whole computer and I had to reboot.
I just tried it and I got on but I could not type anything. I removed the text that was there with the button at the bottom but I could not type any text.

I am using Win XP Pro with Firefox.

Where do I type my comments on the chat?

Welcome, you have entered Chat lobby.

Ok, so now what?

There's a message bar at the bottom of the screen. Type your message and either click "Send" at the right of the bar or hit enter.

Cool idea, but I'll only be able to be on a bit at a time.

I'm sure that is good news to many ;).

would like to see it detachable..

Edit: oops..it is detachable.. kinda..
meant stand alone..

Also paste does not work..
like if you wanted to paste in lyrics etc..
disabled to avoid spam?

I don't know why paste doesn't work. It's a java tool, so who knows.

I checked it out.

Downloaded the Java.

Still get the same screen telling me to download Java.

Does one have to be a contributing member?

Justaguyin_nc,

I pasted a youtube link in there the other night and it worked. I have xp pro and firefox. I did do a java update as suggested by WackyT.

Ahh, I found the Paste command in command bar (right click) didn't work but the ctl-V does fine.

latest already Java installed..

Edit: under Vista.. it does prompt you that the Java JRE used is a different version then the latest (least mine does) and makes you press allowed to run it.. which it then tells you of the horrors of being an unsigned program.

You reminded me that I used ctrl-V when I pasted as I usually do. I did not even think about how I did it. Cool it works:rockon:
