My approval ofthis guitar from SX is simply put GREAT! It plays like a dream , smooth neck easy to finger with my fat tips- 1 11/16" nut. I replaced the stock pickups with GFS Nashville RETRO Humbuckers, The stock HBs were nice but I bought the GFS for this guitar and got a rich full sound similar to
a high dollar brand hollow body. I hope to be able to post sound clips soon.
Quality of the workmanship on this SX is comparable with any other China guitar that I've seen of late, a minor flaw can be found in the finish if you hunt for it, the pick guard could have a better fit if trimmed, The string change I did with Gibson Humbucker nickel strings was also planned from the start. I feel that for less than $300.00 I have a super nice guitar that came with a very nice case. I 'll post some clips when I get the hang of it.

Thank You! I really like her a lot and will get sound clips soon. I'm not the great player that some of these guys and gals are but I'm learning.
I'm glad to see that rondo is once again doing some custom orders because I have talked with several that aren't happy with a narrow neck. :dude:

Blooz,
It is hard to believe the beautiful work you do on guitars when your new avatar portrays you as a messy little kid:rotflmao: Cooool:rockon:

Very nice. Thank you for the report.
I too have been wondering about that particular model. I only have one hollow body and have been considering another. I've been hesitant based upon my past SX purchases but with your report one could find it's way to me. I know I can send it back to Rondo with no hassle.

Is your neck fat and round or flat and thinner?

Spud, I think you would find this neck very easy to play, oval and not really thin or thick, say a medium neck. I did not have to adjust the neck at all and my Doctor took a look at it yesterday, he's played for 25 years. He was amazed at it and couldn't believe how easy it played. I 'm still trying to find time to figure out this sound clip part on the computer. I'm not at all sorry of this purchase , the next one might not be near this good but I happy for now.

I have a couple SX guitars and really like this GG1 or something I got recently with two P nineties in it. It is an antique burst with all mahogany build: body and set mahogany neck. Sounds great.

Was in GC one day looking at a used MIM strat that had a buzz in it they couldn't get out without raising the back of the trem plate about 3/8" above the body. I couldn't see that as realistic. Gotta watch them salesmen. Anyway I checked around at other stuff in the place because I drove a long way and I spotted a nice looking Ibanez Artcore AS73 in trans cherry that I took home. Sounds super great. Plays great. Probably very similar to your SX.

And you have me wondering if I should put some Dream 180s in it. Currently it plays great but I'm wondering how the Dream 180s sound in comparison to the stock pups on your SX. Do they have more bite? Are they smoother? Are they about the same hotness or are they hotter? How did it change the sound so that you like the present sound better? Maybe I missed all this in your original post but no harm in asking again.

That is a beautiful guitar. It is no longer on the website. Just the GG5 in red. Some of these SX guitars you have to snatch up quick or they are gone really fast. That LP Jr twin p90 disappeared fast and I anticipated it and also had the money at the time so I didn't hesitate and I was rewarded with a great guitar.

I should put some new tuners on my SX LP Jr. type. The ones on there have a large tuner ratio, like 12:1. Did you use GFS ones or what? And did they fit right into the routed holes?

I used the GFS Nashville Retro humbuckers in place of the stock SX pickups, perfect fit. As for the Dream P180s, my son put those in a washburn and they sound great , my review was done with the GFS pickups that I installed.
I got a mic for my computer but it hasn't been able to record the sound to Audacity, so I'll have to try something else before I get sound clips.
