Title almost says all: Beginner, soon going through the normal paces, looking for "reward" in a handful of somewhat easy bluesy tunes...

Which blues tunes would qualify, or has worked for you, on both the easy and rewarding parts?

All Blues are pretty easy stuff... can't go wrong if you simply nail the corners and add your own styling in between.
Simplified example: Blues in E, hit the E(7) A(7) & B(7) hard... fill the spaces with just about anything that's yours.

Blues has to be very uniquely one's own.

I learned "Born Under a Bad Sign" fairly early in my playing. It's pretty easy and very fun to play and there are about a billion different versions out there for you to be influenced by.

There are some backing tracks in A on the site, provided by Oldguy, that are good to noodle with, and a Bm track that sounds a lot like "Thrill is Gone" that is a good one. Though not strictly blues, "Black Magic Woman" is very pentatonic, and is fun to mess around with for us beginnerish types. There is a backing track posted in the BT section here that you can access.

If you can find good TAB anymore, I'd recommend going to a good tablature site and just picking a few tunes, and messing with a couple of the licks. Albert King stuff and BB King stuff is pretty cool to start out with.

One song that is not blues, but has some really good licks based around pentatonic scales is the Allman Bros. "Melissa". The chords are easy to learn, and alot of the licks are fairly easy to play.

Another good one to learn (the opening is easy to pick up and solos aren't too bad) is "Soulshine" by Gov't Mule. That is pretty bluesy and soulful and fun to play.

Maybe something a lil more challenging?
Damn Right Ive Got The Blues - video lesson (http://www.vanderbilly.com/Guitar-Lesson-Buddy+Guy+-+Damn+Right++I've+Got+The+Blues+!,6755,1.html)

Clapton has used that opening riff a couple of times too, try moving it around after youve learned it.
But I really dig that bass-y rythmn...its fun to noodle around with...and I use it alot when dialing in my amps tone stack or even pedals.

If you're looking to learn riffs/techniques, I have this book/dvd set which I like. I know it's out of stock on this link but I would think you'd be able to find it somewhere. Plus, you get access to a bunch of backing tracks on their website. Good luck.
