Hello,

I was looking for your opinions. Does this pickguard look gaudy to you. It is ok be honest? I have differing opinions from my family. I like it but I feel it is a touch on the gaudy side.

Thank you.

I think it's ok.

I like it but something seems amiss with it on a 'burst.

I don't like it - don't like the color and I think pick guards should be minimal as possible so not to overpower the design of the guitar.

Yeah it kind of messes with the burst but I kind of like it. I could go black which might not be bad but I just wanted something different then the original. These were on closeout at Guitar Fetish cheap.

Thanks guys.

I also like smaller pick guards or none at all. That one would look better on a solid color body or be black on the burst body.

I like the design of the guard and how it fits the body. The burst and tort grow on you... I wasn't sure at first, but I wouldn't be ashamed of it.

Sorry if I missed a previous post, but what does the toggle do?

Thanks all, I might order a black one, shoot I don't know...

Algonquin, The toggle I put on to replace the rotary pickup selector. I did this so I could put a tone control in place of the rotary switch. Now I never use the tone control, just leave it wide open.
This guitar has been fun to mess with though and I grab it all the time. I had put my GFS P 90's in it and liked it but I tried them in my semi hollow body and that is where they will stay. I picked up a Strat hot Highway One single coil to replace the stock '51 pickup and I really like it. It is a bit more trebely but goes well with the stock bucker.

Call me tacky, but I kinda like it. Black would be pretty cool too!

Too much pickguard; not enough wood.

That color combination works on Strats all the time, but I think its the size of the 51's pickguard that just leaves you wanting more of that beautiful burst pattern.
I keep wanting to do a clear pickguard on something...I dunno if I'll ever get around to it though...but that would be a great candidate.

Maybe this would be a good one to put my Rat Fink sticker on, really do it up:D

I kinda like the sunburst "rising" over the tort guard. Like ShortBuSX says, it works on strats. It could be smaller, I guess, but I think if you like it, you should keep it.

Lemme just say when I put the pickguard on this Strat I took a few pics of it...but the more I looked at the pics the more I didnt like the white hardware. But holding it and playing it are an entirely different thing...Im sure it seems more natural when youre not looking at pics of it.
