Hey Pie, I'll admit I was proud of the boys yesterday. But I also know there's a lot of games to go this season, and the next two weeks are going to be particularly tough. I'll be watching Monday night, and expect it's going to be a really good game.

By the way, if we do kick your tail, I'll NEVER let you hear the end of it.:bravo: :D

I am in the unfortunate situation where I have to root for T.O. because he is on my fantasy team. It pains me, but he was by far the best player available.

Believe me Marnold, I know how you feel! A lot of Cowboy's fans have had a difficult time accepting TO (myself included) because of his stunt a few years back while playing for the Iggles when he spiked the ball on the Cowboys star. And the fact that he's so friggin' arrogant doesn't help.

Who knew that the IGGLES would put up 38 on the RAMS???? WOW, shocked the heck out of us.

Considering the Rams have little to no defense, I wasn't all that surprised. I don't know that I'd have gone as high as 38, but I wasn't surprised to see Philly mop the floor with them. The Eagles sure did make a great selection in DeSean Jackson. That kid can flat out play football. I see a great year for McNabb if he has Jackson to throw to all season and a healthy Westbrook to establish the running game. They could very well be a contender in the NFC.

As for my Jets, it got a little too close for my liking at the end there, but they got the "W" and that's all that counts in the NFL. Favre looked just fine to me, and the additions of Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace to the defense already seem to be working out just fine. The offensive line looked much better, especially having Faneca and Damien Woody this year. The weak link in that line still seems to be Debrickashaw Ferguson. I know it's early in his career still, but he's terrible. He couldn't block a kitten. All the pressure on Favre came from his side. It was also nice to see Thomas Jones start the season with a 100 yard rushing game. Most Jets fans were down on him last year because he only scored one TD, while completing ignoring the fact that he was 5th in the league in rushing. I still think he's a great RB and I'm glad to have him on the team. Next week is the Patriots. With or without Brady, that will be a tough game.

On the subject of Brady, that totally sucked. I can't stand the guy or his team, but I hate to see anybody get injured. These guys play a game for our amusement and it's sad that this often involves some of them getting hurt. I'd rather have seen the Jets put to the test of trying to stop the guy on the field next week. I do however think that someone needs to slap Randy Moss upside the head for suggesting the injury resulted from a dirty hit. Nobody is out to intentionally injure anyone else in this league and for another player to say so is just disgusting.

Not positive, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this happened when T.O. still played for the 49'ers. Still a dumb-*** thing to do and very poor sportsmanship. I laughed my *** off when George Teague ran over and attacked him for it and I don't even like the Cowboys. I just dislike arrogant show-offs more.

I think you are right about T.O. being on the 49'ers when he pulled that stunt. He is annoying but he can sure play and it droves us NUTS in Philly when he was here.
SHINER: If y'all kick our butts, I'd be disappointed it you didn't gloat or rub it in. :rotflmao: BUT, that isn't going to happen, so I don't have much to worry about!! :poke: ahahahhaha
Not even the Matriarchy can help you this week!!! :D

Sorry guys, my mistake.

Your overall point remains valid, that T.O. is an arrogant jerk. Python is right though, he sure can play.

Oh No, another crazy IGGLES fan. :D Mrs. keel, born and raised in Cheltenham, is in mid season crazy form. Nothing in the world like Philly fans.

But piebald, you should know there are NO cheesesteaks outside of Philly. Or so I'm told, and told, and told!!!! :thwap:

Evenkeel,
You are right about Philly fans. We are a rabid, bleed-to-death bunch, that's for sure. Your wife grew up in Cheletenham, huh? That's right outside the city limits from where I grew up in Philly (Lawncrest, St. William's Parish). I now live a bit farther up in NE Philly (Pennypack Park, Maternity BVM Parish)
As to cheesesteaks........yeah, they can be anywhere (even Waco, Texas :D ) so long as you have the proper ingredients that except for one thing, you can probably buy anywhere in the country. That being said, what makes a TRUE Philly cheesesteak is the AMOROSO roll. It's ingredients are SECRET (there was a lawsuit re stealing the recipe by a competitor of Amoroso's). Unless you can have AMOROSO'S send you a box of their rolls (I believe that you can order them too), you are missing out on the BIG part of the cheesesteak. As to the ingredients, Steak-Ums (thinly sliced steak strips; emphasis on THINLY); melted cheese (I like Provolone and detest that yellow Cheez-Whiz out of a jar stuff) and onions (wid or wid-out: wid-out for ME as I hate onions). There ya go, perfection in two hands. Oh yeah, a proper cheesesteak or hoagie MUST be eaten with TWO hands. If you can only NEED one hand, it ain't long enough. No such thing as MIDGET hoagies.
What passes for a cheesesteak/hoagie (subs, to you aliens) roll in some parts of the USA is laughable. So, while you might have the meat, the cheese, the fried onions; if you don't have the ROLL, it ain't the real deal.

I don't know Pie, I make a pretty mean cheesesteak that the little lady just loves. We usually have it two-three times a month. Admittedly I don't have your rolls, so we usually have to settle for french bread or whatever they've got in the bakery. Also, I HATE steak-ums. I take a thin cut boneless rib eye, put it between two pieces of saran wrap, and pound it out till it's paper thin.

We've tried provolone, but I have admit, nothing taste quite as good as the old fashioned cheez-whiz. CB refused to try it the first couple of times I made them, but finally she tried it and now she won't let me use anything else.

So head on down Monday night Pie and I'll woop us up some "Waco cheesesteaks" and we'll wash 'em down with some Shiner Bocks.

Sounds like a deal Shiner. I'll bring the appetizers/desserts........which are Philly pretzels and Tastykake bakery products (pies, peanut butter Kandykakes, Krimpets, etc, etc, etc).

OK, I like the premise of your pounding out the THIN ribeye. Now, the important question....after you cook it, do you chop it up while it's cooking or do you just have one long continuous piece of meat??
Sounds like a dumb question, but that's what some guys up in Wisconsin tried to serve us once.......well, WE all had to run to the bathroom because we were laughing so hard at THEIR version of a Philly cheesesteak.

SHINER, dude, get something else other than French bread, like some GERMAN sounding bread. Good grief, is you use anything sounding FRENCH with a TRUE Philly-ite, you might just get beaten half to death. FRENCH means effeminate (i.e. DAINTY) and cheesesteaks are meant to be WOMANLY or MANLY things to eat.
Evenkeel's wife would understand what I mean and perhaps better able to explain that we don't do DAINTY in Philly. Our women don't do DAINTY and you just have to use a sturdy napkin to get the drippings off your hands, mouth, clothes, whatever, etc. ahahahahahahahahaha

Dude, it's bread . . . not panties.:thwap:

And yes, the meat gets chopped up while it's cooking. CB also likes to throw some mushrooms in with the onions when you're cooking those down.

Shiner, dude, "dainty" panties are AOK. DUH!!! FRENCH anything (except for the "FUN" stuff, :rotflmao: ) just doesn't cut it on a Philly supper-table.

We are as fanatical about real BREAD as Texans are about just what and what doesn't constitute a REAL gun or knife (think of that scene in Crocodile Dundee about the REAL knife) OR chilli. FRENCH bread is almost as bad as WHITE bread (they are both AIRY, nothing substantive about either) and it has NO place as food to watch a football game. Croquet perhaps, but not football. Geez dude!!!

'Shrooms are usually acceptable.

Ok Pie, you win. No more French bread at the Shiner household. From now on we'll use . . . . FOREIGN bread! Yeah, that's it, foreign bread. That foreign bread is some great stuff brother!:AOK:

OK piebald. Now the big cheesteak question. Pats or Jims? :D

Mrs. Keel is full on Jims. and Lees hoagies. Soft pretzles, preferably purchased from the roadside guy near the Tacony-Palmyra bridge. For you non-Philly types, understand this is serious business!!!

When Mrs. Keel and I were dating she dragged me to a IGGLES vs. Redskins game at the old vet stadium. Way fun, absolutely crazy fans. I vividly remember watching the police escort a guy in a Indian headdress out of the stadium.

I'd enjoy this coming year with LeBron bc it will likely be the last he plays with the Cavs. After that, it sure as heck looks like he's gonna be in NYC or Brooklyn. He even wore a Yankees hat to the Browns game. I'm sure Indians fans appreciated that. :rotflmao:

Sorry Strum!!

Evenkeel; I never went to the "famous places" for cheesesteaks. You can get them all over. I generally will not buy pretzels from a guy on a corner unless he has them in a covered "wagon" type case. I have no desire to have car fumes on my pretzels. Yes, pretzels are of varying quality and once you find a good dealer, you patronize that guy/gal constantly. ahahhaha

Marnold: Some place in Janesville WI had Philly cheesesteaks on their menu, so we figured we'd see how good they were. ahahahhahhahhaha

Shiner/CB: Yeah, dumb me threw down the gauntlet BUT that's what rivalries are all about. I am prepared to eat CROW if I have to. ahahha The town's in a tizzy after yesterday's performance BUT McNabb has a history of being "pedestrian" at the worst possible time.
