Korg pitchblack - it's true bypass, fast and accurate, big lights and small size. Plus, it's black... how cool isn't that? :D
It's not expensive either.

A Korg CA-20. Why? Because the store had it when I bought my first guitar and I can't justify shelling out for a Strobostomp.

I use an Arion pedal tuner. It doesn't color my sound at all but...
I found these (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250293167006&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching) true bypass tuners at half the price of the Pitchblack and may pick one up.

I use a Korg TM-40

http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=TM40

and a Boss TU-15

http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=535&ParentId=127

I like the Korg best.

First I use my ears. But to be sure:

For electrics, acoustic/electrics and basses, Boss TU12H. Still strong after 25 years.

For acoustics that don't plug in, like my D-40, dobro, uke, and mando, IntelliTune IMT500. Clips on the headstock.

Or a tuning fork on the lower bout of the body to match vibrations of various A harmonics.

The onboard tuner on my Takamine Santa FE EAC38C is pretty accurate, and so's the tuner in my Boss ME-50.

But I double check with the TU12H or IntelliTune.

This Dean Markley one. Only about $60, very accurate, and has blinding blue lights, so you can read it on stage.

Boss TU-2 Tuner. I like the fact you can power other pedals with this unit... just buy the boss (or similar) power connector and you're ready to go. I use it to power the pedals I run through my effects loop. It's a nice solid little tuner. Lot's of good units out there... should be easy to find a good one that you like.

Cheers

I have 2 tuners, the first is a

Sabine MetroTune MT9000
Chromatic Tuner with Metronome, Tone Generator and Built-in Folding Stand

http://www.sabine.com/sabine-music-accessories/mt-9000.htm

Nice and small - W=3.95”, H=2.5”, D=0.73” (10 cm x 6.3 cm x 1.8 cm), uses AAA batteries, has a mic for tuning acoustics and a 1/4" jack for electrics. It fits in your gig bag. :AOK:

and I have a

Fender PT-100 Pedal Tuner

Heavy-Duty die cast housing, bright LED indicators for accurate tuning, Large LED note indicator, 2 OUT jacks (one jack acts as a 'Mute'), 9v adapter jack

http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0239994000

It is not the fastest pedal tuner, but it works well - and I have a black one. But use a power supply, it eats batteries :thwap:

I use a Boss TU2 for playing at church. Works well and I like the bypass feature when I'm not playing. I did spring for the power supply.

I just got a Meisel MCT-8L that clips onto the head stock about a month back. I use it mostly at home so I don't have to cable up to the pedal tuner for practicing. I like it, too.

A Peterson VS-1.

I was tired of the cheapie tuners I had tried and wanted to upgrade to a strobe. Peterson was unveiling their VS-2 at the time, so Musician's Friend was closing out the VS-1. The complaint about the VS-1, and the reason for the new VS-2, was that the display wasn't bright enough. Well, I've got no complaints in that regard, and it's been a great tuner. They're expensive compared to others - even on a closeout - but, it was worth it to me to finally get a really accurate tuner.

Boss TU2 on my pedal board. I like the bypass, and the ability for alternate tunings. Very sturdy and very precise.

So what is the consensus on a really good value on a strobe tuner? Not that I am getting one, just curious. Neil Young's tech, Larry Cragg, contends that a strobe tuner absolutely cannot be beat and it really necessary to properly intonate and tune, in the interview posted by tot a few days back.

Some small chromatic cheapo by "AAA". Seems alright, accurate enough. Reason? It was free :D

I use a Planet Waves pedal tuner. It is true bypass and is very accurate but it produces a loud hum when you turn the pedal on. This is a common problem with this pedal but all the company says you need to do is move it to a different spot in the pedal chain. That hasn't worked yet. I'd stay away from it.

A Korg GT12 when I practice, and a Korg DTR1000 rack tuner when I play gigs.

The GT12 has a real meter movement - not some jukey moving LED display. It's much easier to use to me.

A Korg DT10 on the pedalboard, a tiny Korg GA20 in the acoustic case and a Boss TU12H for intonation adjustments.

I currently have 3 tuners in all, none expensive. A cherub clip on guitar tuner that tunes 6strings to standard pitch (not chromatic) which can also be switched to tune a half-tone flat. A plug in intelli chromatic tuner/metronome and the tuner in my toneport. Tonight as a test I used all 3 simultaneously and they were all spot on and agreed with each other. I might get another clip on tuner (cheap again) but a chromatic one so I can use it with my bass too, or for alternate tunings (which I dont use much, maybe a bit of drop D every so often). Cant see me needing a pedal tuner

I use a peterson strobostomp tuner. They are pretty pricey, but I got a great deal on mine off of ebay. Best pedal I have, aswell as tuner I have ever used.

Korg DT10 for when i really need it actually matters (gigs, recording and rehearsal) and just some nice and cheap boss chromatic tuner that i have a 3 of lying around the place for whenever i just sit and strum/jam.
(the reason for me having 3 of those tuners is that keep loosing them and then when i buy a new one the old one pops back in to existance)

I use the Fender MT-1000 Metronome Tuner. For gigs I use a Fender pedal tuner. I have been fancied with a strobo tuner lately, so my tuner might change in the next time.

That, and the one Spud mentioned look nice. This one is strobe though. Have you used it long? This could go on my list.

Ive got an Intellitouch clip on tuner.
Works pretty good, the only minor issue Ive had with it has been intonating at the 12th fret on the high e.

http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/3/8/2/241382.jpg

Like I said it works well, I often recheck the tuning on other pedals so it seems accurate, but for intonation I often wish I had something a lil more confidence inspiring...but then, once again, I test it against other tuners and it always been pretty on the spot. So I reckon it works well for the money and for being a clip on.

I have a rack strobe unit and an old sabine 1000<?>.
for setting up guitars I really like the strobe, it's extreemly accurate.
and I clutch the neck when I play so I can use it to set up the guitar better for my ham fist style of playing.

I probably need to invest in a pedal tuner.

That Peterson VS-1 looks pretty good, but here's what I use,

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h34/k5koy/strobe.jpg

Its also a strobe tuner made by Sonic Research, the Turbo Tuner. They also make this in a stomp box type. I now have a closet full of miscellaneous tuners, (Note to self: Sell junk tuners on ebay!) that never get used. This one is the shit!

Heres a link if you want to study up on it:

I ordered one of these tuners today. Looks like it could be fun to use:

Ibanez Jam Tuner (http://www.shiremusic.com.au/site/index.cfm?module=STORETIGER&bit=products&product_id=183745&cart_id=D5B414F7-BA3A-F442-83E65F37F46B8E24)

(The price on that site is Australian dollars.)

The humble Fender sparkly tuners are amazingly good, very reliable with almost zero needle "jiggling". You can get one for around $20.

I have a Behringer TU100 chromatic tuner that works great and was very inexpensive. So I guess you'd say I bought it because it's CHEAP, and so am I!

They've replaced this model now with the new TU300, but it's pretty much the same thing. And while the casing is plastic, it's still very durable:

http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHTU300

Pretty tough to beat for $30!

I have the same one and it works pretty well, though not like a nice strobe tuner. Mine can be a bit noisy once in a while. I am wondering if some work on the input/output ports could help. It seems to relate to if there is any movement when I activate it.

You just reminded me that I had Behringer tuner pedal in the closet still in it's box (bought a bunch of Behringers at a sale). I thought it would be a TU100 because I've had it for awhile but I was surprised to find it's a TU300. I'll have to give it a go now.

This is the one that I would get.

I have a Strobostomp (version 2) that I love. I really like the display & the accuracy. The ST-200 from Sonic Research is cheaper, smaller, & supposedly more accurate than the Strobostomp.

A key point about strobe tuners is that they are really useful for setting intonation.
