One of our friends from the 'W' gave us an addition to the room, a Washburn guitar banner.

Luckly, we're down to 1 kid left at home...........the other 2 are in college.
So, I've had a music room in the house for a few years now.

But the good thing is, I FINALLY talked the wife into turning one of the spare rooms into a studio.:D
Nothing big, just a Tascam 16 track deck, eggfoam on the walls and a monitor setup.

And can you believe I said " But Honey, having a home studio will save us money, and you'll be able to see me more".................and it frickin' worked!:rotflmao:

I've still got some room to expand and add a few more hangers, but the hangers I chose were $20 each, so I can wait awhile on that.

As to new gits.....in order to properly finish off the bottom row.....y'all need a RESO.......preferably with a single biscuit cone and an ALL metal body.......but seeein' that both of you love/were raised on "country" music, a "spider cone" wood-bodied RESO will most likely draw your attention........hmmmmmmm.....but for the ultimate in drawing attention, and something that isn't as harsh sounding as the biscuit cone....ta-da, a metal bodied tri-cone would do the trick like no other git.....just on LOOKS alone, a tri-cone is the MAGNET above all other gits.....:rotflmao:

Hey Shiner and CB,,,

I have been waiting for a while to further document this latest foray into the duskier aspects of Guitar Ownership. Things are looking very good. I am sure that you already have spots for mike stands and a small table for the recording equipment. Chairs without arms.

From the good days of "the other forum", a lot of us have watched each other, grow their guitar toolbox. Ii is my opinion that you have the accoustic market fairly well cornered down there. You have talked about the mandolin and I am sure that one will arrive.

Who would have guessed it, back then, that there would be music rooms and small studios in the near future??? All I can say is, I hope that the Fostex opens up new doors for you guys.

I'm going to have to get moving on making space in the music room here. I entered contests for a Casino, two different LP's, an SG, and recently a Carvin X100B full stack and custom shop guitar. I have to figure out where to put all this stuff. Despite what is sure to be Mudcat's confidence that he is going to win the the Carvin package, I think it's headed my way.

Last time I made this kind of statement, it pertained to a Fender American Strat and someone elso here ended up winning it. So Mudcat, if you win, you owe me.

Plank, in the summer our relative humidity stays between 40-50% so there hasn't been a problem. In the winter when we use the heater it drops down to as low as 20-25%. Traditionally I've been casing them with humidifiers in the winter, but I think I'm going to look for another solution. We keep this door to this room closed during the day, so hopefully I can find a room humidifier or something relatively inexpensive.

I use a little Kenmore room humidifier in my music room during the bone dry winter and it works great. I keep the room between 45 and 50 percent RH.

Strum, the room is probably about 12' x 13'. I got the hangers from Musicians Friend (sorry Rocket). I looked at a lot of hangers, but I finally went with these for three reasons. They hold the guitars away from the wall so there is less chance of banging them on the wall, you can slant the guitars so at some point in the future I can move them closer together and get more up there, and finally they have the locking system which I really like.

Another humidifier tip for ya, Shinester: the one I got at K-Mart for $30 is a 'cool-mist' type that has a demineralization cartridge. This minimizes the 'white dust' in the mist. I also use distilled water in the tank. Same reason, cleaner mist, also helps the machine from collecting gunk.

STRUM....I am laughing my butt off in Philly....a "heater" is what we have in Philly. Natural gas is piped into it and that is what heats our houses. "Furnaces" are things of by-gone years (at least 50 yrs) when COAL was used to heat our houses. I suspect that WACO is at least modern enough to have "heaters" and not "furnaces". :rotflmao:
The last known "furnace" to exist in Waco was the Branch Davidian complex, right?

Do you heat with COAL Strum? I would think Cleveland would have progressed to having something other than coal. If it's some kind of a gas, then those things are usually referred to as "heaters". "Furnaces" are generally things that you manually put stuff into, like coal, firewood, etc.
Just about everyone in Philly heats with either natural gas or oil. Outside of Philly, in some of the suburban areas, you might see some people with propane tanks in their yard. No COAL though. :rotflmao:

Round here, gas forced air is the basic standard, and whether you call it a gas furnace or whatever probably depends on what decade you were born in. The swankier places have radiant heat in the floors, which is supposed to be nicer. That GFA in this high desert climate does dry things out unless you have humidifiers installed centrally or at least some area ones.

Don't forget to acoustically neutralize your studio or sound booth... get some studiofoam up to capture all the sonic refugees.

Sweet room!!! There's an unbalance to the room though. On the one side, you have metal recording equipment, etc but NOTHING on the other side. Since you love bluegrass AND to balance the room out; ahaha, I'd recommend a metal reso-mandolin. :poke:
