Any more Britney lyric quotes and I'll have Renman ban ya!! :flamemad: ;)

Nice! An Ibby ART300, huh? Hey, I had a finish on a pedal come out a lot like that....but it wasn't on purpose! Seriously, that looks pretty cool. :dude: I can see why they call it "Cayman".

We do, however, require clips to authenticate the veracity of this post.... :poke:

Baby One More Time :D

I don't have it yet. It's on it's way. But I've played this model and it's a great underrated guitar. I'll let Chatreeo do the clips for me.

It has that traditional body shape but one difference that I appreciate is that the back is contoured sort of like a Strat. It doesn't have the square body like a Les Paul or Tele making it much more comfortable to play and snug up against your body. Smart thinking Ibanez.

Hey Spud by the looks of the picture you posted your getting the black one,I have a great name for it you can call it Obsidian, cause it looks like it and the Indians used to made axes out of it so why not now.Sumi:D

I played one of those briefly. Very nice guitar. If I were looking for a Les Paul-esque instrument, that would be high on the list. Seems like a more metal version of a Paul, which is right up my street.

Steve, is the body actually textured or is that the design in the paint? I'm thinking of the next guitar being an ART100 to sort of replace the ARC300.

The ART300 gets great reviews. What is the deal with the 2 AA batteries for the humbuckers, I'm not familiar with that?

I'm not Spud, but the body is textured that way.

It was hard to tell from the pic. I noticed the avatar the other day, so I figured there would be an announcement. I thought the avatar may have been the art100, but wasn't sure.

crap - gas attack. Just when I thought I had it beat.

Thanks SVL.

It's a pretty neat axe. The notes are very clean and articulate. It came superbly packaged and is in what I would call 'shop worn' condition. It's been played but not abused or scratched.
I think one thing I will do to it right off the bat is to change the tone capacitor. I'm not sure what is in there but it isn't what I want to hear.

More to come....

Soon enough.

I'm liking it so far. I cleaned it up and put new strings on it, tightened the tuners and adjusted the truss rod. I stayed up until midnight playing it last night and now I'm looking forward to gigging with it on Sunday.

The pickups are very articulate especially with distortion. Every note is balanced and distinct. The pickups have a wide variety of tones too. The neck gets the classic paf sound, the middle is bright and somewhat Tele-like and the bridge snarls and barks like a P90.

The neck is a Gibson 50s style big and round. Pretty easy to play actually. I had trouble putting it down last night but Mrs Spud made me a pretty good offer that I couldn't refuse otherwise I would have played it all night. ;)

No gators were harmed. :D

This guitar is amazing. Everyone loved the way it sounded and I love the way it plays.

I ran through the Classic 30 tonight and only had the volume around 3.5 and it has all the fullness on the bottom and clarity on the top that I could ever want. The neck pickup with the ZYS or BD2 on was smooth satin heaven yet it remained clean enough to be extremely articulate. The bridge pickup down right snarls and harmonics are easily accessible. The active pickups are quite good but of course I knew that before I bought it. I tried it out at the importer's store a few months ago and knew it would deliver. There I played it through a Prosonic.

A couple of nice features other than the incredibly quiet active pickups are that it has a tummy contour on the back of the slim mahogany body. No fat guitar body pushing away from my torso. It snugs up just right. Another feature is the light weight mahogany body. It has a nice tone but doesn't weight that much. Comfortable to wear all night. It sort of reminds me of an SG. I also dig the fat 50s type neck. The action is soft and low and I had virtually no hand fatigue all night. This was the first time I've played a chunky neck all night and I really loved it. It really makes playing a lot less effort especially compared to a Strat.

These are currently listed at $399 and I'd say even that is a fair price. If you are patient and look around you might find one for considerably less and you'd probably think you got one heck of a deal once you turn it up and play it. The finish ROCKS under lights. The angles from the figured maple top are magic with lights.

Sweet little guitar definitely worth checking in to.

Ibanez has a new feature on their web site and you can listen to clips of their guitars. You'll have to select the ART series at the bottom of the page.

I just have to say that I was very impressed with this guitar when I was at Spud's last weekend. Other than my Viking, it is THE one of all the ones he had out (Well, OK, the Luke rocks me too), that really spoke to me. Many different tones come out of those pickups. From almost acoustic to really good ol' raunchy rock. Nice to hold and play too. I also think it looks way better in person than in the stock shot posted in this thread.

I think I would try to get black though if I did. I think I would feel like Barney Rubble holding a guitar made out of a giant tortoise if I got the Caiman color. ;)

Oh, and I just have to say, it is almost not fair how many nice guitars Spudley has over there. I think it is a good move you are thinning out the herd and focusing on nicer ones. Let's see, the Luke, the Swede/VikingDeluxe, the Art300, this new CV '50s strat you have coming, at least a couple of those Ibanez strats, that (S, RG?)470 really grabs me, along with one other dual humbucker one . . . Dude, you have a lot of nice guitars.

Thanks. Life is just to short not to have them when it's what I'm in to. Know what I mean? I love to crank it and spank it.
