I was using my EX-7 at the casino gig last night. On the Wah and Vibe settings, it seems to boost the signal a bit. Anyone else noticed this? Any time I engaged it, I got the feeling that my amp was suddenly louder.

I get that with my Digitech RP350. On the RP350, I'm not sure if it is the amp selection, but some settings boost the signal.

It should only depend on where you have the effect output volume set. It is the knob furthest to the right. Actually you can lower the effect quite a bit and get some lo-fi sounds. Chances are you had the volume over unity.

What Spud said. Actually all but two of the models have volume controls. Four of those are with Control 3. One of them (Space Station) is with the expression pedal itself.

I had a really frustrating weekend with this pedal. I bought a nice new power block to start work on my new pedal board to accomodate my Danelectro cool cats. Unfortunately the EX7 will only work off it's own power supply (AC... I think). What's up with that? I generally just use this for Wah, I think it might be time to banish it from my setup and get myself a dedicated wah. I love the space station sounds but have never been able to find a use for them.

Ok rant over. I've not noticed any volume jump when I engage this pedal.

So Mr. Ranter...do you have the power supply that comes with the EX7? That's all you have to do to get a great functioning pedal. Just use the approved power supply along with another one to power your other pedals. It's so worth it. I've built a new board with mine on it and absolutely enjoy the heck out of it.

Yeah, I do have the original but I was quite excited by the prospect of having one power supply for all my pedals. I tend to fall in and out of love with this pedal quite alot. I think I need to start writing down my favourite settings and taping them to my board. There's definitely a sweet spot on each of the models but once you move the dials on one setting you undo your other models settings etc.

They are power hogs. I too was hoping to use my chained power supply but immediately realized that it wouldn't work. I have 3 constant wall warts fastened to my board and add an additional one for the Loop Station when I use it. Oh well. At least it's all paid for.

What I've done is adjust my song order so that I play several songs in a row that I can use the current setting on the EX7 then change it for the next block of songs that I can then leave it on the next setting. I think I'll try an additional foot switch so that I can scroll through the different effects. I know it won't be perfectly set for each effect but many of them are usually close enough to use anyway.

I pretty much leave the effect knobs at noon or actually just under 12:00 on all of them. For me that keeps all the effects sounding good without having to redial them for the different effects. The reason I keep the first knob just under noon specifically is so that my Cry Baby wah frequency will be where I want it when I use it and also so that my Whammy effect is on the right interval at it's maximum pedal travel. I usually just use the wahs and the whammy mostly. The whammy does a mean Jack White impersonation with some fuzz going on. A neat pedal but it can have it's quirks.
