Typing with one-hand is very cumbersome.... :reallymad:

Got back from the hand surgery an hour or so ago; the novocaine still hasn't worn off. But the cool thing is that the mobility of the finger is immediately improved. You guys know how much I like to post photos for my projects, so why should this be any different? :D

Check out the flex on the index finger in this 2nd shot. Haven't been able to do that in about 3 weeks!

Now is that the standard diode combo setting or the turbo mode on that flexed digit? Glad you are better...now get to work on some more awesome pedals. :)

Glad you are back and things went well. These pics are not as pleasant to look at as the pedal builds though. ;)

Not up to Renmanian standards, but serviceable, I guess! ;)

Sorry you can't see the new rotary switch--it's under the bandage, next to the 9V adapter jack! :D

I am starting a "Club For Those With Protruding Veins" - anyone can join as long as they have a bit of that Swamp Man look going for them, vein-wise.

DVM.....this is purely and intentionally tongue-in-cheek...:D .....all I see is a hand wrapped in bandages.......so to paraphrase STRUM....we wanna see pics of the stitches or IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.....:rotflmao:

Seriously though DVM.......I'm thrilled for ya. Good luck and ain't it GREAT when you get better results that you hoped for???? I know that feeling all too well.

Sorry buddy, I just couldn't resist the CHEAP shot. My PHILS are kicking butt in the NLDS series and WE couldn't be happier.

Hey Evenkeel.....is the MRS a PHILLIES fan too???

Glad to see that it all worked out well, DVM. It was probably over before you knew it!

So, do you get a cool scar out of this?

Thanks, guys! Now that the local has worn off, it aches pretty good! They gave me hydrocodone, but I'm trying to avoid that stuff....

The pics are nice and all.....but all us fretters know that DVM CANNOT leave anything stock...

so what's under the bandage?? updated circuit board? DPDT switch?

DVM had to have SOME mod done....or it just ain't right :poke:

Hehe. I remember when the local started wearing off with me too  Not good times. I have no desire to see what's under that wrapping. If I never see stitches in hands for a million years it will be too soon.

Nice to hear that the surgery went well!

Any word on how long recovery is supposed to take?

duhvoodooman
October 4th, 2008, 09:38 AM
2-3 weeks, I understand. Man, it's sore & swollen today. As expected...

2-3 weeks sounds reasonable for what you get out of it.

You can spend the time planning your next build.

Typing with one-hand is very cumbersome..
With a line like that, one would think that you were looking at guitar porn.

:D  :D  :D

Guess who played for a while today?? Still pretty stiff, but not too much pain and the finger bends quite well. Can't tuck the finger in for chords requiring the index finger on the the high strings yet, like F, Dm, C and Am, but single note stuff isn't bad at all. Overall, it's coming along nicely!!

Do not over stress. You are required to perform in tip top shape. Stop that guitar playing and heal up asap that means now. What would the state of this planet be if you weren't able to create those pedals of yours huh? ;) :)

Just a little update:

The recuperation from the surgery is going well. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow (10/24) since the procedure, and though there's still a little swelling and the tendon is slightly contracted (can't completely straighten the finger yet), the finger has good mobility. Playing is no problem at all, except that some of those chord shapes I described before are still a little bit uncomfortable. But for the most part, I can play pretty much whatever I want.

The stitches have been out for a week, and the incision has healed so well that it's barely noticeable on my hand unless you look for it. The doc did a nice job. :AOK:

Bottom line, if any of you ever run into chronic flexor tendinitis and have this repair procedure recommended to you, my advice would be to go for it. Minor surgery and a quick recuperation cycle. Just make sure you get a surgeon who does lots of these & knows what he/she is doing.

Awesome DVM, I imagine playing would be good therapy to get everything moving and flexing well. Good to hear:rockon:
