...in a Duhvoodooman painted enclosure:

The Triboost was a birthday gift from Mrs. Tung and I just got around to building it today. The build went pretty well, but the middle setting blue LED didn't work at first. I ended up resolding the LED connections. I also removed all the solder from the rotary switch connections and viola, works like a charm now.

I like the germanium boost the best in the treble setting. The other two modes are a clean boost and a linear boost. I believe the clean boost is a mosfet.

This is easily the coolest pedal I own. Thanks to Duhvoodooman for finishing the enclosure. The pedal would have not looked nearly as nice as it does now. :AOK:

Included in the box with the Triboost was a Confidence Booster kit:

I built this one first to warm up for building the Triboost kit. It is just basically a clean boost. It does not come with an enclosure, so I'll have to obtain one and house it. There is a little trim pot on the right side of the board, I think I'll replace it with full-size pot and mount it in the enclosure.

I don't think Duhvoodooman has anything to worry about, though. While these were fun projects, I like building amps much better; the tiny PCB, parts and enclosure were a PITA to work on with my sausage fingers :D

Hey, that looks good! :dude: And familiar! ;) :D

The TriBoost is another very smart and flexible design from BYOC, with it's 5 boost modes (the germanium boost has three "voice" settings). Even though most people prefer the germanium settings, I think my favorite is the Linear mode--just seems to fill out the sound from top to bottom, and gives a really nice bass thump. :AOK:

How 'bout a "gut shot" there? We wanna see the Tungian soldering skillz! :poke:

And before you go back to amps, you gotta try either the Large Beaver or the Mouse. Both are just killer kits....

I'm not 100% happy with the solder joints around the rotary switch, but the pedal works fine and they don't seem to be cold soldered, I'm gonna leave them alone.

Nice and clean looking build from here, Tung. Those rotary switch solder joints look just fine to me. :AOK:

I'd be a little concerned about the long legs on your transistor, but maybe I'm being paranoid. Depending on overall gain, having long legs could result in the pedal picking up RF interference.

That said, if it's all good, then it's all good I guess :)

Oh an I like amps too, but pedals are non-lethal ;)

I've received enough high voltage over the years to make me tremble whenever I take the cover off my tube amps ;)

:thwap: Didn't think about the transistor leads. Luckily the socket makes it easy to remove it from the circuit. Believe it or not, the leads as they are in the photo are about half as long as they were originally.

It doesn't make any extraneous noise, at least that I've noticed.
