I'm trying to work out a deal with a shop in Memphis. This is an ARC100. It's the same as ARC300 except it's basic black, no fancy inlay, no fancy body.

I miss my 300 and I am really hoping that I can work a deal. It's a long shot (remember, I'm cheap).

Wouldn't it have been easier to have kept the 300?

A lot easier, but occasionally there are those that you regret. Plus this would be nice with my "Black Guitar Collection" that I just started an hour ago.

I'm sure there has to be one or two you would like back.

I sold mine (BGC) to Dugly!

No regrets. I keep all of the collectibles.
I'd like to unload a few still though.

Too many guitars have gone through that house not to have any regrets. There has to be something you regret/miss. Of course there are those that you forgot you even had until you venture into a closet. I'm assuming you have some off-sight as well.

There is something about the ARC that I just like - weight, sound, and feel. It's a great inexpensive guitar that sounds better than any Epi LP or some Gibson (not all, so don't jump on me with "that's impossible" statement)

My workhorses have always been very mediocre models... sometimes fairly low-end. My prize workhorse was an inexpensive LP(SL) that was lost/stolen a couple years ago on USAir flight.
I do enjoy collectibles though.

I think ROB still has that 1 ARC300 I asked them to put aside for you off sale...

I sent Willie an e-mail letting him know it's doubtful that I will be able to swing getting that guitar anytime soon. It would be great to have, but new price, plus shipping just knocks me out of that purchase.

I was hoping that I could get the place that has the ARC100 down in price, but they are claiming that their price is as low as they can go. It appears to be in nice condition, has a case (not standard when sold new) and when you add shipping it's about $215. Still not a bad price considering new they were $300 without the case. However, I was looking at $150 and I hold firm to that budget.

Strum,
I stopped in there today, and they did sell it. But should it come dancing back to Willie, as many guitars do (like mine), I'll let ya know.

$215 w/ case is a very good price...considering that the case might be worth $50, did you ask them go $150 w/o case?

(BTW: that ARC100 would make a nice fit in your 'BGC' :poke: )

No, I didn't bother to ask him if he would be interested in selling without the case. I never saw a case with the ARC, so I'm assuming it's an old LP case.

I figured if the guy wanted to get it out of his shop he would deal, but I guess not. I could probably go ahead and buy I, but I have some car repairs to do and other things that need to be addressed. I also want to get some sort of heater for the garage, even though it doesn't get down to that bone chilling 63 degrees like it does in Florida.

So, I have to pass, however I think there are one or two people looking for a guitar. If not, Spud could always use an extra.

It's the second time around, BIN price dropped $25. This would be a guitar I would take over the ARC100.

The ARC100 or 300 fit in any LP case.

Nice enough Casino, but I'm a little suspicous, Strum...never mind the hack job he did replacing the tuners, but he calls it a Korean, and if you check the s/n as I did with Guitar Dater, you'll see it might be Korean, but is possibly Chinese because Saien has factories in both places. Mine is a n '05 Peerless Korean, made a month earlier than this one. Mine has the same model SKB case...true there on its price.

But he still wants too much for this guitar at a BIN of $625, because he butchered the headstock doing those Grovers. Putting the originals back will require bushings.

But wait! That's not all...

This guy also has what he calls an Elitist John Lennon Casino up for auction...with a made in Korea sticker on back of headstock? Now that's rare. Aren't Elitists MIJ (until now)? And he did an even worse job of wrecking this one with a sloppier job of putting Gold Grovers on it...yuk! Well..it IS true that Lennon put Gold Grovers on his, but...

I wouldn't consider $625 + $45 as "Much less than" $699 + free shipping, given that the $699 comes with original equipment, purchase guarantee, and a warranty.
I hate eBay!

Good points and not having the money or allowed to bid on e-bay, it really doesn't matter.

I think what he is saying, but not being clear (deliberately), it's a Casino modified to a John Lennon

"HERE, I AM ADDING THE CASE, 2-HOLE TRUSS ROD COVER $$, GOLD GROVERS @ $50 and A BLACK SWITCH WASHER $$, RETOOLING THE HEADSTOCK (Labor charge FREE) … THIS IS A DEAL!!

So what he is saying he has modified it to a John Lennon. He notes that the guitar sells for $699 at MF and M123. John Lennon Casino's sell for $2662 at Sweetwater, so he's doing a comparison to the regular Casino to remain legit and still insert the Lennon name.

He's a sneaky dealer (rare for e-bay-not).

Well if you will excuse me, I have to go practice on my Ringo Starr drums I bought from him last week.

Yeah, I misread the listing, Strum. He's pretty clear that he made 'John Lennon Mods'. The one he didn't make was strip the gloss off the finish...

Exactly. Granted adding the $120 SKB case puts it new for $819...but the butchered headstock, no more warranty...it's a used Casino in at best 'good' condition. Not worth more than $410: $350 for the guitar , $60 for the SKB Case (max 50% of going market price new).
