I just now replaced the crappy two-spring reverb tank in my V18 with an Accutronics (http://www.accutronicsreverb.com/) 4EB2C1B four-spring tank. The amp is transformed. There's no more godawful sproinginess; the reverb is usable through the whole range of the knob. You've got to try this.

It's a shame Crate skimped on the reverb tanks in these amps; everything else about them seems to be such good quality. It's not like a good spring reverb is expensive (though the Accutronics unit did cost a quarter of what I paid for the amp, come to think of it).

I haven't used the reverb that much in mine. Thanks for the tip!:AOK:

Thanks for the heads up. Is the 4EB2C1B a drop in for the stocker?? The cab is pretty huge, it looks like you could fit a bunch of stuff back there.

The stock unit is about 10" long, and the 4EB2C1B is about 17". I had to remove the handy velcro strap for the power cord to make room. In fact, that was the hardest part of the job because the strap was held in by about a million heavy-duty staples. And I had to make new pilot holes for the screws. Other than that it was a cinch.

Also, Accutronics didn't supply a bag with the new tank, so I'm doing without for now. I'll buy or make one eventually.

Here's some schematic drawings for the V18, if anyone needs them.
