Over on Imeem (I never heard about this site until today) you can listen to the title track of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" (http://www.imeem.com/gunsnroses/music/ZDPzX2B2/guns_n_roses_chinese_democracy/), an album 278 years in the making. I half way expected the track to suck but it is not at all bad. I may have to check out the rest of the album. And enjoy my free Dr. Pepper.

Who ended up on the album playing guitar? If it was Ron Thal (Bumblefoot), he plays Line 6 Vettas, I believe.

The Wikipedia page lists a number of guitarists, including Buckethead and Bumblefoot and . . . Brian May?

well I listend to it.I bet nearly anybody on this board could play that song with minimal effort.
except for a couple short breaks it's 4 very basic barre chords.

and his signature katherine hepburn vocals.

to be fair I never was a big fan, tho I did like the first G-N-R album.
mabey the other stuff is more interesting.

It just doesn't have that raw bluesyness to it.

as much as they overworked on it they probably sucked any true bluesy rawness out in the mix.

Chinese Democracy is now streaming in its entirety on Guns 'N' Roses MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/gunsnroses). Since this has got to be one of the signs of the apocalypse, I would humbly suggest that you all consider repenting. ;)

the only song I hear was "better" which wasn't that bad it just seemed to digital. Though I could really dig the solo in it:dude:

It's...epic. It truly is. Is it Guns N' Roses? Well, not as I knew them. But Axl owns the name so he can have whoever he wants on his record.

The hugeness of everything on Chinese Democracy is mind-blowing. The songs are at their core very good, and we'll debate the (over?) production for decades (I think it's great as is).

Now, I know it isn't the Appetite or Illusion albums. It wasn't ever going to be, and I made my peace with that ages ago. But it's an ambitious well executed body of work.
