The lonely looking MIM strat in the herd is likely heading to the land of "For Sale".

Couple of questions before I send her off.
1. the serial # is MN6236254. Made in 1996??? The info I have says MN6 plus 5 digits = 1996. MN6 plus 6 digits??
2. I believe her to be totally stock, but the control knobs are both slightly darker than the volume knob. Is this standard, I'm guessing not.
3. Is the colour Lake Placid blue?

Before strum puts up any signs.

I'm fairly sure they are all the same colour on stock Fenders. They do bleach/age fairly quickly though, so if it is from '96 then they could be.

According to the Fender Colour Chart it is Lake Placid Blue.

Looks like Electron-Blue and that would make it a 96...Im pretty sure Ive got one with 6 digits too.

How much do you want for it anyways?

BTW the tone knobs tend to be darker in color cause they get less use...more use wipes away discoloration.

It's a '96, probably. My strat is a "'94 Special Edition" but has a '93 serial no. It might be LP blue, a closer picture in daylight would help. I believe that colour was only used on the Classics among MIM guitars and it's not a Classic with those tuners.

Hey there Keel,,

Before I went an sold that guitar, I would think that it would make a nice contribution as a dedicated slider. You said that you have lots of tunings in the toolbox. This might be worth a try...

I think Lake Placid blue is right- mine is electron blue and it's definitely different. My daughter calls it "Daddy's purple guitar."

Im no expert on Fender colors, Ive got a blue/purple MIM strat too...and everything Ive every come up with says thats Midnight Blue...they replaced that color with Electron Blue. Electron Blue is the color thats currently available on the MIM Standard.

But Im beginning to think his is Lake Placid Blue too, after looking at pics of electron blue...but these metallic blue colors are hard to photograph, so I still dont know.
I think the best way to know is to know what was available in 96, but an easier way to find out is just to call Fender...I called them to find out some info on my MIM burst, very cool, very friendly and helpful, all you need is the s#

Thanks everybody for the info. Very helpful.
After a bit more research, I'm pretty sure she's Lake Placid, '06. Standard.

Also pretty sure the tone knobs are not original. Likely never know why.

As to what I want for her???? Seems the pricing is all over the place for MIM's. I got the guitar in a multiple deal that involved a trade for a '61 candy apple red tele. I got $$, an amp and the strat. I have the tremolo bar and a fender gig bag. I'd also incude the stand in the first set of pictures. Does not work with acoustics. Anyway, $200-$225???

Couple more pics for fun.

Posted the strat on craigslist. Got a call an hour later. Am supposed to meet today. Hopefully my experience will not be like Warrens.

Again, thanks to all for the assistance.

Oh, congrats on the sale. As I was scrolling down reading the posts I started to gas and was looking over my shoulder to see what I might be able to offer in a trade or sell quickly for the cash.

Dodged another one. If my wife only had an idea of the sacrifices I make when I'm on here.

Spud and SVL flashing those Vikings should make her proud of my resistance to temptation. I don't even open their threads anymore if I think there will be a pic of their Vikings.
