I purchased a Sound City L212 around December 76-77. I have taken the back off the cabinet and the speakers have no company name on them. Any idea who manufactured them?

100% JBL.... Soundcity was (made by) JBL If I'm not mistaken.

JBLs have the reputation for being bright and clean. They handled a lot of power as well.

Take a look at this site:

There should be a 6-digit code on the speaker somewhere. If your speakers are JBLs, the code should start with 391 (Altec Lansing).

This may help unless there was an American Sound City brand I've never heard of. The Sound City 4x12 my bass player used in the late 70's had square magnet speakers. This site suggests they would be Eminences.
