John Mayer again DVD "Where the light is"

Hello!

I watched the DVD of John Mayer "Where the light is - Live in L.A."

I never payed much attention to his studio albums. They seemed to be too "soft" in my ears. But after seeing him live, I became a big fan of his tone. Really great and great feeling.

Yeah, it is a great DVD. Glad you enjoyed it too.

It's quite a feat to do 3 complete shows in one evening. I thought what he did was cool and I love his sense of humor. Very good DVD.

I too got the DVD, thanks to just stum's post a while ago, showing JM using different sounds/ different guitars!

Now, spouse has become a fan...!

Earlier today, I was listening to a JM lecture he gave at Berklee School of Music last month- hosted by Berklee teacher Livingston Taylor (James' brother). The general theme was what to do and not to do on stage:

- never swear
- don"t try to be funny while retuning, just get your green light and move on
- don't be afraid to change the song lineup if you sense the audience needs another type of song.
- should something goes amiss: forgetting lyrics, string breakage.. etc, just keep going, you cannot afford to lose the audience by letting the beat drift or stop

There is more, it's 1 1/2 hour long.

Chris, have you seen him live in Germany, I mean on stage? Darn it, I must have missed the show. Or did you mean live on DVD? Mayer is so awesome!

Nein, ich habe ihn leider nicht live gesehen, sondern nur auf der DVD, besser gesagt auf den DVD-Ausschnitten in Youtube und auf MSN. Leider gibt es die DVD hier wohl noch nicht (nur als Import mit Region Code1+2, also nicht für Europa). Auch das Album (Doppl CD) kann online auf iTunes noch nicht gekauft werden.


No, i didn't see him live, but only on the DVD, that means the clips on youtube and MSN. Unfortunately, the DVD isn't available in Europe, only as a import with region c ode 1 and 2. You cannot buy the album on iTunes either. Only in the Amerivan iTunes store, that needs a credit card with american postal adress :confused:

Thanks Chris! Yeah the DVD seems not to be available here in Germany. If Mayer comes to Germany I will definitely go and see him, I could bet he plays one of the big arenas like Köln for example. <-- vielleicht mal eine Gelegenheit sich zu treffen ;-)

That would be great. Most times, I visit the concerts in Oberhausen Arena. It would be great, if there would be a chance to see him live.
