Johnny A, in a small club, Cambridge, MA.
DVM mentioned him in a PM about Boston in general, a couple of months ago.
Lots of interesting numbers, ranging from Hendrix tunes to the Beatles', Chuck Berry, etc.
Got seated pretty far back, but near the halfway mark, a staff person brought us to a table 8 - 10 ft away from the man... I could see the reflection of the picking hand in the neck humbucker cover of the Gibson Johnny A model...!
I took advantage of it and really paid attention to the picking - he often uses a mixed picking technique, hitting low strings with plex, while picking treble side with fingers, which I never saw done in detail before.
It was also a nice break for my wife, undergoing radiation at the moment - she is usually not very interested in rock / jazz music, but always come out of a show giggling... go figure!
