I need to bulk up my list this year, since people are asking what I want. Obviously, what I want (boutique amps and pedals) won't fit in the budget, so I'm looking for smaller items. Any recommendations?
I'm a huge blues and strat fan. Are there any books that are must-have?
Ho ho ho.

The entire "Blues You Can Use" series by John Ganapes. Just great stuff....gets you going in the right direction. Plus, he did a book on chords too that is really good.

I'm not affiliated in any way with John nor his products. Good stuff.

Try some V-picks (http://www.v-picks.com).
Some good cables maybe? Lava cables (http://www.lavacable.com) are awesome.

I have "Jazzin' the Blues" out of that series and it seems like a great book. I did not realize it was part of this series and will check out the rest too.

Over priced picks and cable, where did you find money for the Suhr?
Overpriced? I don't think so, Strum.

One of your links is wrong - you used lavacables.com instead of lavacable.com - here is a fixed one - Lava Cables (http://www.lavacable.com/)

This would be good for your Strat Jones, birv:
The Fender Stratocaster Handbook (http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Stratocaster-Handbook-Maintain-Troubleshoot/dp/0760329834/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228972675&sr=1-1)
or from a broader perspective:
The Fender Electric Guitar Book (http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Electric-Guitar-Book-Instruments/dp/0879308974/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228972941&sr=1-1)
or just to have cuz it's really good to have:
The Guitar Player Repair Guide - Dan Erlewine (http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Player-Repair-Guide-3rd/dp/0879309210/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228973284&sr=1-1)
These were all on past Christmas Lists of mine, and somehow, Santa got the message and came thru!

Some great ideas here, folks. I've already put several of them on my list, including the Ganapes books. Thanks to all.
I'm still mulling over the "baby's arm holding an apple", though... hmm.....
