Met and jammed with Mark Wein yesterday

Yesterday, I met up with Mark here down in Anaheim (well Orange, more accurately), where I'm at during the holidays this year. I took a looooong walk to his studio, and I had a good time chatting with him and checking his teaching studio.

Mark had to help teach a band practice lesson, so I hung out and listened. After they were done, Mark and I jammed a bit on some blues and funk tunes. It was fun. He has 2 Suhrs, and I played his strat while he played his tele. We are both blues-based players, but we sound quite different. I really enjoyed it. His old Deluxe Reverb sounds very sweet too.

Otherwise, Disneyland is keeping us busy of course, and we're having a lot of fun. I will try and find time to go to Tone Merchants and see what they have. Mark says they have lots of great guitars (including Suhrs) there.

I have a picture of us two holding Mark's Suhr guitars, and I'll post them once I get back to Winterland (Alberta) next week.

I bet that one day within the next 2 years we will have a nice group photograph up here. My cousin in Italy is participating in an American forum about one of his favourtie movies. They meet once every two years in the USA. There are alwaya 20-30 poeple and they stay at a cheap hotel that offers a special rate for such a large group.

I had a great time playing with Robert and wished we had more time to hang out...one byproduct of the evening was that hearing Robert play my guitars and sound totally different has caused me to rethink how I a physically attacking the instrument down to switching to a heavier pick. He came to visit and I learned something :D

And yes...I look "economy sized" standing next to Robert :)
