Ron Asheton, guitarist for The Stooges has passed away at the age of 60. As a fan of garage/punk rock, Ron was a major influence on me and on a huge number of the guitarists whom I love. RIP Ron.

Geez, that sucks. I've only recently started listening to Stooges music, and I can see that Asheton had an influence on other guitarists in the genre.

Prayers for his family. RIP.

Oh no, that is sad news. He was all over the Reverend Guitars website since had a signature guitar with them. There is a big announcement on http://www.reverendguitars.com/ too.

Man, that is sad........and only 60! We're lucky we got to hear his work, I just wish it could've lasted longer.

His Reverend sig guitar is pretty sweet. Part of me is surprised that he was only 60. Another part of me, knowing the punk scene of the 60s and 70s, is surprised that anyone of that era made it to 60.

Aw, man.

The Stooges loom large in my musical history. They were responsible, directly or indirectly, for a lot of the soundtrack to my life. What a shame.
