• $31,000 USD for Lennon's rotten tooth

Do you believe in the tooth fairy?

We heard that John Lennon's teeth would soon be hitting the auction block. Well, the hammer has come down, and the rotten tooth has finally sold for £19,500, or a little over $31,000. The final price of the tooth reached nearly twice the amount of initial estimates.

The BBC reports that a Canadian dentist named Michael Zuk phoned in his winning bid. "Once I heard it was up for sale I had to have it," stated Zuk, who plans to display the molar in his dental office. Zuk, author of the book Confessions of a Former Cosmetic Dentist and avid animal tooth collector, commented on the condition of the tartar and cavity ridden tooth to CTV News: "At the time he could have had some acid reflux problems, he may have neglected himself…," Zuk said. "It just goes to show it's important to have regular routine dental care." You may woner what the tooth would have fetched had it been in mint condition.
