    Did Led Zeppelin steal Stairway to Heaven from this tune? Maybe they were influenced by it, but to me it's fair game. I'm with Zep here. That's an extremely common harmonic structure, and I'm sure there are several classical pieces with it from way back, and maybe Spirit were influenced by them.

    The country stars should all be suing each other - their tunes all sound the same to me! There seem to be about 2 or 3 chord progressions they all use, all the time...

      It's hard to give Led Zeppelin too much of a benefit of the doubt since they "borrowed" so much of Led Zeppelin I and II. But I don't think that particular riff is so amazingly unusual that you can definitively say they stole it. I also wonder why you wait until the main person involved is dead before you file a suit. Seems like a money grab at this point.
