I am not a fan, because of the lack of clean headroom, even for a 5-watter, and the rattiness of the distortion. At that price point I'd look at a Blues Junior or even a Fender Mustang 3.

Just for recording? I'd get a cheapie large diaphragm condenser like an mxr. And a tube preamp, behringer or ART.

Some guitars and pickups seem to pick them up better than others, but in my experience you can do it on any guitar.
Main thing is to experiment with picking location to find the sweet spot.

Don't know the song. But 5 chords are chords voiced with no 3rd.
A5 is played as 6th string 5th fret and 5th string 7th fret.
C5 is 5th string 3rd fret and 4th string 5th fret.

Personally I dig the Rebel 30. Spectacular amp for the dough.
Two things.
First, practice the guitar part until you can play it without thinking about it at all, then add the vocals so you can focus on that. It is ALWAYS more important to sing a song well...
Just googled; apparently there's a mod to the fx loop to drop the noise floor. Get in touch with Bruce Egnater and he'll send you instructions
Is the fx loop on that amp tube driven? Could be a bad tube, or even simply not seated properly.
Street music nailed it. Put a kink in the string just above the ball end. that will solve most of your problems.
I have two pretty high-dollar acoustics, a Santa Cruz (with Fischman rare earth magnetic pickup) and a Larrivee (with LR Baggs M1A active sound hold pickup). Both these guitars sound gorgeous...
