Epiphone's affordable version of the famous Gibson ES335

That is a special edition Dot Deluxe. Bascally a dot with gold hardware and a flame top. Every so oftern Epi puts a run through of these. I have seen several in a wine red color and it looks very nice. A realy good buy for a brand new Dot I would think. Everything is the same internaly.

The Classic 57 humbuckers are $109.00 a piece on Ebay so $400.00 for the whole guitar is pretty good ..

I think the pickups are the standard Epiphone Classic '57s, and not the Gibson '57 Classics.

And, yes, Blaze, a real one is not affordable for some of us (inflated NZ prices strike again) so the Dots are a pretty good way of getting that semi-hollow vibe going. I'm very happy with mine.

Correct Mark. If they were Gibson 57s I would buy two. One thing about the Epi 57s is they are really sweet pickups. I had a set in my Epi Custom Flame top, and they were killer.

Everyone can afford one and everyone should have, at least, one. Anyone that gigs with a 335 should have a sister Dot set up exactly the same in reserve.

I just bought an Epiphone Dot for my bass player on Ebay. I got it used and shipped for around $200 and it was a great guitar for the money. I would recomend it for an entry level guitar.

Maybe, but I also think the Hagstrom Viking deserves a look in the category. Different tailpiece I know, but is sure like it. Nothing at all against Dots, and I am sure they are great.
